I was previously using a friend's old 2004 version of this book to study for my April 2016 pe transportation exam, only to find that the standards had changed pretty drastically since then and the problems either couldn't be solved with the current civil engineering reference manual due to a lack of information given, or the answers I calculated using the new formulas just didn't match. So, I decided to bite the bullet and spend the ridiculous amount that they charge for this 80 page book.

I'm two questions in, and come to find out, this brand new version is also out of date with the current standards and the pe exam requirements. I am livid. Don't waste your money on this trash. You might as well buy the 15-year old version and save some money.

The Six-Minute Solutions guides are great, especially when preparing for the afternoon portion of the Civil PE exam. Yes, the questions are generally tougher than what you will see on the exam; that's why they are good practice. These questions are in-line with what you can expect on the exam, however the questions are a little more challenging and usually require a few more steps to get to the answer. You wouldn't want an overly easy practice exam and then get slammed on the real exam.

These guides are split up into morning type questions and afternoon type questions. I found that these guides were great preparation for the PE exam. The solutions are detailed enough to follow along and catch your mistakes. The solutions provided are way better approaches to answering the questions than any of the Lindeburg references, and they have fewer mistakes than Lindeburg. Some of the solutions to the Lindeburg guides are just outright wrong. The best guide for practice questions is the NCEES practice exam, but these are a wonderful supplement.

I highly recommend getting the Six-Minute Solutions guide for whichever afternoon session you plan to take. I did take the Transpo afternoon option, and between this guide and the NCEES practice exam, I felt that I was well prepared for what was on the exam. As you are studying, make sure you have and use your references that you plan to take to the exam. You may find that the base equation you look up to solve the problem is in a different format that what this guide provides.

Your most basic study library should include the Lindeburg Civil Engineering Reference Manual, the NCEES Practice Exam, and the Six Minute Solutions guide for your afternoon session. Don't forget to round up your afternoon required references (check the NCEES website as these do change over time), too. The most helpful (in order of helpfulness) were the AASHTO Green Book, Highway Capacity Manual, AASHTO Roadside Design Guide, MUTCD, and a traffic text book. Yes, you can take these guides into the exam room, but you probably won't find them much use that late in the game.

Got this to supplement my prep course. I do better by answering example questions and then reading the answer explaination even tho they weren't the best.

Giving it 5 stars because I do think it help me narrow down which subjects I needed to focus on. And I passed my Civil/Transportation PE in one try!

I found the sample questions in this practice book to be a good representation of what ended up being on the test. Also, the questions in the book were realistic in actually averaging 6 minutes to answer the problems. I successfully passed my first try and would definitely recommend this to all studying for the PE. I am also considering using the SE version when my time comes.

Anything that helps you study more is good, but the questions in this book were significantly harder than what you're asjed on the test. I tabbed several problems in this book to reference during the test, and I didn't need to look at any of them. Since there are not a ton of books like this out there, it might be worth a buy, but I would put it on the bottom of your list.

Harder than actual PE test but still a good practice. I worked through all of these problems and still didn't pass the exam though so I guess I'll be trying again next time, and I plan on working through this book again.

I think that is about all I can say. $81.00 for less than 100 pages of content. This book contains only problems and solutions. It is relatively well illustrated and the problems are what you would expect from the afternoon transportation depth session. All in all it isn't a BAD book. IT IS JUST REALLY EXPENSIVE FOR WHAT YOU GET. I am used to paying outrageous prices for engineering texts. This really beats anything I have ever come across.

Came in handy! Helped me pass the PE exam on the first try. Highly recommended
