What if you knew that by simply crossing the room and saying hello to someone, you could change that person’s forever? Just a few steps to make an eternal difference. It has nothing to do with methods and everything to do with taking a genuine interest in another human being. All you need is a heart that’s in tune with the Holy Spirit and a willingness to venture out of your “Circle of Comfort” and into another person’s life. Just Walk Across the Room brings personal evangelism into the twenty-first century. Building on the solid foundation laid in Becoming a Contagious Christian, Bill Hybels shows how you can participate in the model first set by Jesus, who stepped down from heaven 2,000 years ago to bring hope and redemption to broken people living in a fallen world. Now it’s your turn. Your journey may not be as dramatic, but it can have a life-changing impact for someone standing a few steps away from you—and for you as well, as you learn the power of extending care, compassion, and inclusiveness under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. The highest value in personal evangelism is cooperating with the Spirit, says Hybels. This means playing only the role you’re meant to play—walking when the Spirit says to walk, talking when he says to talk, and falling silent when he suggests that you’ve said enough. Hybels encourages you to “live in 3D” … Developing friendships Discovering stories Discerning appropriate next steps … as a means of learning to understand the Holy Spirit’s promptings. With fresh perspectives from his own reflections and experiences collected during his most recent decade of ministry, Bill Hybels shows with convincing and inspiring clarity the power of this personal, richly relational approach to evangelism. The stakes are high. The implications are eternal. And you may be only a conversation away from having an eternal impact on someone’s life—if you will just walk across the room.

This book clearly articulates our role as believers. It identifies that without a doubt we are here to in some way lead others to God....share our faith, and let God take care of the outcome. His Spirit was with us as others led us to understand Grace. His Spirit is here now to prepare us for the doors He specifically opens for us to walk through. When there is a whisper prompting us to walk, I can no longer say I don't have a role. Pray and ask Him to lead and let him control my steps, my listening and my tongue. God bless you Bill for your servant leadership. I enjoy your writing style, the personal frame of mind you offer, the challenges we should not shy away from and always the benefit and nourishment to our soles. I've been to Willow. Done leadership conferences there and have been truly blessed. I've visited with Bill personally even though he likely wouldn't remember me from Adam. Bill is the real deal.

Being alone in a crowd without anyone talking to you is a sure way to un-invite a person to return. Bill Hybels has written a searching and challenging book about being real in our Christian walk and not come off as a "religious snob. I first learned about this approach by reading a book published by The Salvation Army titled "SAY SOMETHING - Tell them. Win Then. Establish Them." by Stephen Banfield and Donna Leedom.

Although there are those who seek God as a result of evangelistic services at a local church, most often it is because someone in their past has told that person about God over the years. I remember addicts who grew up in the influence of a Godly parent or grandparent. After they "hit bottom" in their life and heard of this same God, they were eager to accept God and begin living the Christian life.

I have personally tried many of the "hottest approachs" to evangelism over many years. Some worked short term, but checking one to two years later so many of the new converts were no longer visible in the church providing follow up ministry. Many churches have a "our doors are open - they can come to us" attitude.

I have purchased the Participant's Guide and the teaching DVD. I am studying the whole set of material for my personal devotional and learning experience and hopefully I will be able to teach it to fellow church members.

With tears in my eyes I can't even begin to tell you what has happened to me. I see all people differently, all believers no matter how they are affiliated. I was raised a Baptist, in a pastors home. I married a Baptist pastor. But now after 55 years of marriage. our lives have so opened up to all other believers and this book is the crowning of our life. We are so open to the Lord to lead us wherever He leads us to whatever He wants to say. I listen more to Him and pray diligently " Lead me to one soul today. Teach me, Lord, just what to say. Friends of mine are lost in sin and cannot find their way. Few there are who seem to care and few there are who pray. Melt my heart and fill my life give me one soul today." A precious song I learned as a teenager and have not sung or thought of it for many years and now it is my theme.

The author challenges Christians to reflect on the progression of a believer's journey to the cross and appropriate roles that obedient Christ-followers should play along the way. He does a wonderful job of providing real world examples of Christ-followers (Biblical and contemporary) who have listened to the prompting of the Holy Spirit to step out in faith. He makes a strong case for all believers to prayerfully seek God, asking how He would aid us in engaging someone whose soul-destination hangs in the balance. The book is a strong, yet edifying, rebuke to any notion that God wants us to be "comfortable Christians" or to live our lives in"silent witness." Very thought provoking and convicting.

Are you in your comfort zone, and afraid to leave it, when interacting with others ? This book challenges Christians to step out and reach out to others because that is what God wants you to do !

Although the book is about evangelism, Bill is actually referring to that as God's process, and we are all just pieces of His total plan. Thus, he is not encouraging you to walk across the room and start preaching. Instead, he is talking about walking across the room to start a new relationship with someone you don't know.

Its a great wakeup call for Christian's who want to just hang out with people in their own comfort zone. Its a great book to read, and then put into action.

Bill Hybels opens our eyes and hearts in this wonderful book, “Just Walk Across the Room”. We don’t have to be eloquent, actually, just the opposite. We need to tell our story plainly and simply and communicate that this decision, the most important decision we’ll ever make, has eternal consequences.

I have purchased this guide to go along with Bill Hybels book "Just Walk Across the Room". I have found there are some of the people in the local church that are ready to reach outside of their group (congregation) and genuinely love them for Jesus. Many times when a church is planning evangelistic efforts the commits afterward are about how many members did the church gain. I believe the effort should be to gain them for God and let the person they are witnessing to make the change to denomination membership as God leads them.

This book is a useful Christian tool for a believer to allow God to lead them in their daily Christian walk and learn to love others as Christ loves them.

One of the best and most straightforward books on evangelism that I've read in some time. It all starts by trusting in the Spirit as you walk across the room to meet someone new. That's followed by recommendations on what to do next. Hint: listen to the Spirit leading you. The associated study guide and DVD lessons complement the book, especially Bill Hybels' descriptions of the years he spent trying to lead his friends to know the Lord.
