Boyd was featured in a front-page New York Times profile in July 2006, after losing 20% of his congregation because he refused to lend his public support to conservative political causes and directly challenged the highly politicized nature of American evangelical Christianity. Gregory A. Boyd, Edward Boyd. This Skeptic Never had a Chance Edward Boyd never had a chance. Not that his son, Dr. Gregory Boyd, a professor of theology at Bethel College in St. Paul, MN, was all that convincing. As the skeptic in this duo, his conversion was never in doubt. Too often, the apologetics professor restructured or rephrased his father's legitimate arguments and doubts to ones premised on the acceptance of the faith. This technique is far more effective with believers who have already made the leap of faith and are looking for a rational justification for their decision than a true skeptic. The title of this book caught my attention, plus I had heard of the author who lives in Minnesota, where I live. The title intrigued me because I, too, have had issues with the Bible.

I am a "born again liberal Christian," in my 80's who is going through a period of my life where life ending issues are prevalent in my thoughts, of late. Reading this book was very enlightening for me and answered many questions for me. Also I'm an African American woman who is going through some changes with the current political situation with many questions as to how America and it's citizens could have such hate in their hearts and still call themselves Christians?

This book helped me with my concerns and questions.

I encourage everyone who have doubts about their religious beliefs to read this book! Even those persons who are firm believers should read it in order for clear affirmation of their religious beliefs. I recommend this book for members of church congregations and anyone who is interested in finding truth.????

Yes this is a book for skeptics, but also a book for believers. Greg gives insightful answers that believers can use in witnessing to others. In answering his 77 year old dad's questions, he leads him on an incredible journey to faith and demonstrates that it's never too late for God to claim a soul for his own. This book will inspire you to witness with hope.

I bought this book for my 17-year old son who had many questions about the Christian faith. His questions were so thoughtful, I was not sure if I could give him an answer that would do his question justice. This book is perfect. You can read just the chapters that contain any questions you might have, but you are probably going to want to read the whole thing.

This book is amazing! We as Christians need to know how to answer the hard questions asked by our non believing and very smart friends. This book delves into the philosophical, theological, and spiritual questions we have all had. There were parts of the book I read and reread and parts I highlighted so I could go to them quickly. I bought the audio portion also. It was very well narrated with 2 narrators: the son and the dad. I highly recommend this book to anyone wanting to have the tools to have an intellectual discussion with those who don't believe but are willing to ask the tough questions. I loved it so much I bought a copy for my dad for Father's Day.

Just loved this book. Answered every question I could think of... I know the Lord. He radically saved me but it’s so difficult to answer some of the hard questions. My faith is not challenged by questions. God is God and I am satisfied but for those who are doubting... wonderful very real book. Written for the lay person.
Great gift for any agnostic...

A great book that I am giving to my sons to read. They are used to reading web pages, so the short chapters is very friendly to the new generation. It is the best apologetic book I have found, and that is my life's passion.

I was highly encouraged by this book. I like the short chapters broken up by correspondence. This book allows for a fluid discussion of the questions many non-believers and believers wrestle with. Even though this book focuses on areas of belief it also connects on relationship with God. It touched my heart, and I may have even had a few tears at the end.

If you have questions about Jesus Christ and have ever doubted - this is a great book to help you! I have been a Christian most of my life and this book helped me know how to share when others have questions. It's a bit difficult to grasp some of the concepts ( but not the main one!). I. Going to read it a second time!
