Mine changed the night I discovered radio monologist Jean Shepherd. That book included the story "Duel in the Snow, or Red Ryder Nails the Cleveland Street Kid, later adapted for the Holiday movie classic The Christmas Story. I didn’t have the book (yet), but I went home happy with a souvenir button and my hero’s autograph on a matchbook cove.

The Shepard family name was found in the USA, the UK, Canada, and Scotland between 1840 and 1920. Use census records and voter lists to see where families with the Shepard surname lived.
