THE HOUSTON POST Lewis Grizzard remembers 1962. But a lot's happened since then. I haven't understood much myself after 1962. I was a junior at the University of Georgia and was just making it by the grace of God. One year later, I would have a chance encounter with some scrawny kid from Moreland, GA over long necks at the Old South Bar across from the Greyhound bus station.

Grizzard also published a total of 25 books, including collections of his columns (. Chili Dawgs Always Bark at Night), expanded versions of his stand-up comedy routines (I Haven't Understood Anything Since 1962), and the autobiographical If I Ever Get Back to Georgia, I'm Gonna Nail My Feet to the Ground. Don't Forget To Call Your Momma; I Wish I Could Call Mine (1 April 1991). You Can't Put No Boogie Woogie on the King of Rock and Roll (1 October 1991) (collection of previously published Atlanta columns). I Haven't Understood Anything Since 1962 and Other Nekkid Truths (1 October 1992).

I Haven't Understood Anything since 1962 and Other Nekkid Truths. But Lewis Grizzard went out at his creative peak. Most of Grizzard's previous works had been collections of his four times per week column in the Atlanta newspaper. There were a few exceptions, like "Elvis Is Dead And I Don't Feel So Good Myself" (highly recommended), but most were collations of previous material. he made a few exceptions as his career progressed. In 1988, he wrote "Don't Bend Over In The Garden Granny, You Know Them Taters Got Eyes," a book about sex. The next year, he wrote one about golf.

Prolific country cutup Grizzard (You Can't Put No Boogie Woogie on the King of Rock and Roll, 1991, et. turns a little ill-tempered in this year's offering. Grizzard's angry and he's not going to take political correctness anymore

Any jeremiad against the & police,'' as he calls them, is welcome, of course, but the humorist is slightly strident and pretty offensive as he presents a maundering, maudlin defense of his own beloved Culture, that of the Straight Southern White Male

"Imagine Andy Rooney with a Georgia accent...and a sense of humor."THE HOUSTON POSTLewis Grizzard remembers 1962. But a lot's happened since then, and he's in the mood to discuss it all, in the inimitable style that's made him the most popular social commentator to tickle people AND tick them off. From being PC to watching MTV, from rednecks to black militants, from singing the praises of the South to sounding off on the problems of just about everywhere else, nothing and nobody escapes when Grizzard shoots from the lip...and hits the "nekkid" truth every time.

As with all of Lewis Grizzard's books, this one is great! Yes it is "dated" but still a great book by a great man. I've said it before I'll say it again. Lewis may be gone but his legacy with the typed word is marvelous, there won't be one like him again. But this book is hilarious. It reminds me of how I grew up in North Carolina.

This book and jacket were absolutely pristine! Completes my collection. Signed by the late author! Now I have all his books!

Kerahuginn
I used to read his column in the Atlanta paper and was so disappointed when he retired. These books are a reflection of a lost time and so funny.

Usaxma
Not a story, but memoirs and life views. Totally politically incorrect but that's what I expected. Learned what a pissant is. Progressives won't like it.

I love Lewis Grizzard books.Laughter is good for the soul.

Bev
Lewis told life stories with belly laughing humor. A true son of the south that he dearly loved and represented it as honestly, making no excuses for our way of life.
