Notting Hill is a 1999 British romantic comedy film directed by Roger Michell. The screenplay was written by Richard Curtis, author of Four Weddings and a Funeral (1994), and the film was produced by Duncan Kenworthy. The story is of a romance between a London book seller played by Grant and a famous American actress played by Roberts, who happens into his shop.

1999's "Notting Hill," starring Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts, broke the record set by "Four Weddings and a Funeral" to become the top-grossing British film of all time. The story of a lonely travel bookstore owner who falls in love with the world's most famous movie star was directed by Roger Michell. Curtis' next film for Working Title was not an original script. Instead, he was heavily involved with the adaptation of "Bridget Jones's Diary" from novel to film. Curtis knew the novel's writer Helen Fielding

William is a guy who lives in Notting Hill. He has timid personality and small book store in Notting hill. Also, he has roommate named Spike who weird personality. One day, he met Anna who is really famous movie star from the US in his book store. When she showed up his book store, he immediately started crushing her. Few minuets later, after he bought a orange juice, he bumped into Anna at the couner on the street. He felt so sorry to her. So he asked her to come up his place, let her do take a shower and asked change her clothes. Before they say goodbye, suddenly she kissed him. He could’t forget it.
Few days later, Anna called and invited him to her hotel. And they went to William’s sister’s birthday party. After party, they walked around the park and she brought him to her hotel. But her boyfriend who flew from the US waited her in the room. Naturally they stopped meeting, but William could’t forget Anna for the long time. After 6 months, suddenly Anna showed up. It was the day after her nude photos are released on magazines. William asked Anna to stay at his place until that issue over. But she was very angry and left because his roommate Spike tell reporters the truth that Anna was his place, and lots of reporters waited her in front of his house.

Few months later, William visited to the place which was Anna taking a film again. But he listened what she talk about him. He felt sad because she said it was like a not that big deal and serious. After that, Anna showed up his book store, and tell him her true feeling. But William said he has no confidence in their relationship.

I could feel their emotion and love. It was good romance story. But It was too short. If you watched movie already, you would understand quickly because you already know about the story. However, if you didn't watch it before, you might not understand well. Also, I recommend this book to people who want to read romance book. Although the characters don't have cool and good personality, story is not that fast enough. At the end, you will know their happy and lovely ending. One thing more I realized, a brave man get a beautiful woman!

I'm a sucker for this guy. No, not that guy, not Hugh, but Richard Curtis. And Tim McInnerny. I liked the movie, of course--otherwise I wouldn't have bothered reading the screenplay--but the screenplay was better than the movie. Edited-out scenes, alternate storylines, a very funny afterword, lovely pictures. Plus the book's printed on just the most wonderful paper. I'm a sucker for good paper.

We loved the movie and I have watched it three or four times. We are going on vacation and staying in a flat in Notting Hill.

This was entirely my fault, the book that I bought turned out to be an abbreviated version to stimulate people to read. I did not read the product details.

Arrived very quickly and this script is so well written you won't even realised you are reading. Great pics all through too.

I enjoyed the movie greatly, but it was reading the script which really made me appreciate the sheer genius behind it all. Kudos to Richard Curtis! It is amazing how much he manages to get into a scene - everything WORKS, to tug at the heart strings or strike the funny bone.
The script reveals a few of the artistic choices that had to be made in the process of creating the script and the movie; however, this is a very polished end product - definately a last draft (with a few choice bits of scenes that did not make the cut at the end) and perfectly co-ordinated with film stills and photographs, all on luxurious glossy paper.
However, it is amazing how, having watched the film and knowing the charactrers, it is possible to visualise scenes in your head while reading the script - an especial plus for the left out scenes. I am now dying to compare my imagination with the director's cut, which I have been told might be available on the DVD version.
