A lot of the Disney Princess books are incoherent, and the rest of the "Bratz" type books feature girl/women with very weird priorities. I got this on a lark to see how it would go over with my six year old.

Well, the little girls are little girls, not bimbos in training. They stick together and they help each other. They take responsibility for their actions. They are decent and loyal.

Now, there are gowns and balls and frou-frou, but that is not the be-all and end-all of their lives. My reader followed the story, was pleased at how much she could read on her own, and didn't immediately try to find cheapo tie-in products. That's all good enough for me.

And get this. Vivian French has a series for older readers called "Tales From the Five Kingdoms". They are charming and hilarious. These Tiara books are worth it if all they do is lead you to other Vivian French books.

I bought this for my grand daughters we had a good time watching together. Love Disney movies Thanks very much

Well, the covers look too much like Bratz dolls, something that is verboten in my house. And the stories don't have that much depth. Read one and you've basically read them all.

That said, my nearly 9 year old (an excellent, but lazy reader!) has devoured these unlike any other series she has read, and is now writing her OWN "Tiara Club" books!

They are easy to read and unlike Disney's nubile princesses, these princesses are LITTLE GIRLS. Take away their crowns and their fairy godmothers and they could be any little girls anywhere--their concerns are the universal concerns of kids this age--making friends, keeping friends, standing up for themselves, etc. Plus (again unlike Disney)there are no "Tiara Club" products for sale, though I could see a line of dolls or something coming out one of these days....

So while this series won't win awards for its intellectual depth or polished writing, it will be much loved by kids. Though IMHO, if your 5 year old wants princess books, I'd look for some gorgeous fairy tale picture books at your local library :) and save these for when she needs books to read on her own!

I really like the story I love the characters I love how they're brought together I think that the ball should've a little more detail but other than that I really enjoyed it and I recommend you to read this book that is why I give this book 5 stars it might be short but it's a really good story you should read the whole series.

When I first started reading this book to my daughter (age 5) I was worried that the main character (the book is told in the first person) had too much of an older girl's sassy attitude, even though the reading level and pictures were just right for my daughter. But once we got into the book and Charlotte met her new best friends at the Princess Academy, that sassiness did seem to diminish. And my daughter just loved it. We have now gone on to read more Tiara Club books and she still loves the series. Definitely a good series for girls with a passion for ball gowns, tiaras, fairy godmothers (a character named Fairy G plays an important role in this series) and such.

My daughter is 5 and this was her first chapter book. I chose this book because I don't see why every other series book needs to be based around a lot of magic or fairies. I hadn't really heard a lot about these books, but am glad I bought one to try. My daughter enjoyed it, and we'll buy more to read.

My daughter really enjoys chapter books, and we stumbled upon these a few weeks ago. These are so adorable! In each of the books there is a secret word that you have to find. Once found you can go to the website and type it in for a surprise! My daughter is only 5 and can't get enough of these books! I recommend all of the Tiara Club books....we can't wait for the new ones to be released!!
