Mary Anne's Book is the fourth of the six Portrait Collection books published by Scholastic from 1994-1997. Mary Anne, along with the rest of the 8th grade Baby-Sitters Club members, are assigned to write their own autobiography. They may include photos and other memorabilia, but the majority of the project must be written. Mary Anne chooses to write about a variety of events in her life, but the overarching theme is how her mother's death shaped her as a person.

Kristy, Claudia, Mary Anne and Stacey have had some strange adventures since they started the Baby-sitters Club. But nothing's been as spooky as what's going on right now. The baby-sitters have been getting mysterious phone calls when they're out on their jobs. When a phone rings and they pick up, there's no one on the other end of the line. Claudia has always liked reading mysteries, but she doesn't like it when they happen to her. So she and the baby-sitters decide.

Kristy thinks the Baby-sitters Club is a great idea. She and her friends Claudia, Stacey, and Mary Anne all love taking care of kids. A club will give them the chance to have lots of fun - and make tons of money. But nobody counted on crank calls, uncontrollable two-year-olds, wild pets, and parents who don't always tell the truth. And then there's Stacey, who's acting more and more mysterious. Having a baby-sitters club isn't easy, but Kristy and her friends aren't giving up until they get it right! Read online. 2 725. How may I help you?" She took down the information (one of our regular clients was calling, Mrs. Papadakis, who lives across the street from Kristy and next door to me) and told her she'd call right back. Then Mary Anne looked up our schedules in the BSC record book (in which she has never, ever made a mistake). Everyone is free except me," she reported. But it's a Friday night baby-sitting job, so that lets you and Mal out, Jessi.

This is a list of the novels in The Baby-Sitters Club, a children's book series created by Ann M. The first 35 novels were written by Martin, after which some of the books were ghostwritten; 44 of these were written by Peter Lerangis.

The story of Baby-sitter Club member Mary Anne follows the childhood loss of her mother, her creative way of handling a Mother's Day tea party in kindergarten, her fight for the glasses she did not need, and her many friendships. Original.

Very tender sweet, moving story on growing up, and mother loss. Mary Anne's search for a female figure in her life is touching, especially her attachment to Mimi. Her dad tries to fill in, but there's no one in a girl's life like a mother. I was also glad to meet Mary Anne's grandmother along with Mary Anne. I was so happy for Mary Anne and Verna, especially when Mary Anne found out about her mother, Alma. I like Verna and would like to see more of her in future BSC books. I could see Verna had been through a lot and was also working through her grief of losing a husband AND a daughter. It was really too bad that Richard and Verna hadn't grown up yet back when Mary Anne was a toddler and fought over her. It's great that now Richard and Verna are putting their feelings aside for Mary Anne's sake.

Mary anne's book was very good, I liked to learn about her. I almost cried when Mary anne got to see her grandma. [I am a very touchy person, just like Mary anne.] Well in this book, Mary anne described growing up without a mother, getting glasses, being shy, and having to dance on stage, finally knowing a special secret about her past, and just hanging out with Kristy and Claudia. And through all those yeses and knows her father was always there for her. I REALLY LIKED THIS BOOK!

It wasn't as exciting as Stacey's Book or Claudia's book, but it was a bit softer and very well written. It showed Mary Anne's sensitive and caring side quite a bit, but not in a way you'd expect. My favourite parts were the mother's day tea party, the ballet classes and when she got glasses. Her father seemed nice too, not strict and overprotective like the series books portrayed in the first few books of the series. This book actually portrayed the real Mary Anne, she didn't seem as shy and quiet as some BSC members describe her to me. She seemed to me like any other kid, and a little bit sneaky too, but not in a bad way that would hurt anyone. I think the book made me like her more in fact, it was a good read.

I like this book a whole lot. My favortie part was the Mothers Day tea party because it was so sweet the way she couldn't decide to bring Mimi or her father. What I don't like is how they don't tell you how her mother died.
(that's something very small)
It was a great book. For those who liked this book, I recomend:
Mystery5 MaryAnne and the Secret in the Attic
Kristy's Portrait Collection
Abby's Portrait Collection
They're all great books! Thank you Ann Martin!

Hi, I am 13 yrs. old, and I go to Kamiakin jr. high in kirkland washington.I read this book in less than 24 hours. It's sad what Mary Anne has to go through. Getting Glasses, Mother's Day Tea party,Meeting her grandmother for the first time in 11 1/2 years. And she has to find out about Her Mother in order to make a fine auto biography. Well any one that loves Baby sitters Club books and loves or even likes Mary Anne I reccomend that you read it. It is worth it.

This was an interesting story. It helps you get to know her father more and see that he really cares about her. I thought that Mary Anne's grandmother was rude to keep putting him down to her and to criticize Mary Anne and make her upset. Mary Anne tells her off and runs out the door and hides in the cornfields. Then she comes back and says sorry. SORRY FOR WHAT? That part irritated me. It was her Grandma who needed to say sorry. It was her doing.

it's not as great as stacey's book but still an interesting read. I liked reading about the mother's day tea party and the ballet classes best. Also mary anne's dad doesn't seem strict and overprotective at all the way other baby sitters club books say, he seems like a really great and caring dad to have and mary anne was truly blessed.

in this book mary anne did activities as a child that I wanted to do but didn't get a chance to do. The mother's day tea party sounded like so much fun and I wanted to take ballet too like kristy, maryanne and claudia did, though mary anne got stage fright and quit. I think she should have performed anyways though instead of quitting.
