Gertrude Chandler Warner. Illustrated by. L. In the past I have purchased The Boxcar Children books for my grandchildren. Now that I have grandchildren of my own, I introduced the story of my eldest grand daughter, who at that time was 4 years of age. Now, she is 5 1/2 and still wants me to read the book to her. I read it off my Kindle - no colored illustrations - just a great story line that feeds the imagination. And now I am going to start purchasing them for my Great Grandchildren. Kids love to listen to them and love to read them.
