Eight famous engines in four adventures - cheeky Percy ends up rather wet, James learns not to be so cross. This one is an @ 5'h, 6 1/2"w book without a number on the side, and despite the old-fashioned illustrations, it just doesn't have the same "feel" as our other books.
Eight Famous Engines book. The first book (The Three Wilbert Vere Awdry, OBE, better known as the Rev. Awdry, was an English clergyman, railway enthusiast and children's author, and creator of Thomas the Tank Engine, who starred in Awdry's acclaimed Railway Series. The characters that would make Awdry famous, and the first stories featuring them, were invented in 1943 to amuse his son Christopher during a bout of measles.
All book are in very good condition with no rips, tears, or writing. The station box has some shelf wear.

This book was originally titled The Fat Controller's Engines, and ended up being the very first book in the Railway Series NOT to be illustrated by C.
