This book deserves a better discussion than what glorygirl posted. This book belongs with a larger corpus of Adam and Eve literature which have all come to light within the last century or so. The book of Adam and Eve also called the Conflict of Adam and Eve with Satan has been studied by scholars and clergy alike. This book is an early Jewish-Christian work that dates somewhere around the 1st to the 3rd centuries AD and has much in common with other early books such as "The Cave of Treasures". By comparison and careful study we can see that these are not just "fairy tales.
It was first translated from the 6th century Ethiopian version into German by August Dillmann, and into English by Solomon Caesar Malan.
This book is a written history of what happened in the days of Adam and Eve after they were cast out of the garden. The present English translation was translated in the late 1800's by Dr. S. C. Malan and Dr. E. Trumpp. Although considered to be pseudepigraphic by some, it carries significant meaning and insight into events of that time. It is doubtful that these writings could have survived all the many centuries if there were no substance to them. They translated into King James English from both the Arabic version and the Ethiopic version which was then published in The Forgotten Books of Eden in 1927 by The World Publishing Company.
