I have this book, as well as one other in the series. I think these would be fine for 7-8 y/o kids, but too scary for a 5 y/o. (From a parent’s perspective.) I don’t think it would scare my child, so much as I don’t want her mind especially tuned into this type of material.

This is the first book by this author that my daughter read. She borrowed it from the school library because it was in her Accelerated Reader range (2nd grade). The back cover had pictures of other titles in the series. The librarian said she didnt have any of them. My daughter hounded me until I finally found and purchased them all on Amazon! :) Thanks for writing fun, easy readers for those developing their fluency and comprehension skills.

My 2nd grade class loves these books!

Disregard the review given above. It was written from the perspective of an adult and not a child. My son and his friends loves reading and listening to these stories. When have even read them during camp outs. They are easy enough to read themselves so they feel that they are in charge of the fright! They love reading them to one another. As for the illustrations, this is a segway to chapter books where less and lesson illustration is included. And again, it is for early elementary children and it works fine for them. The books cost 6 bucks; what do you expect?

Parents, buy them. We have read 4 already and are buying more. It gets kids excited to read. So if you have a child who hates to read, try these.

He received it in perfect condition and reads this nightly! Perfect mix of spooky and tame for him!
