Why is it important for us to look back across the years and bring the Young Lords back into view, into the classrooms and the homes of those who may not have even been born when we first began to struggle? What is it that we hold in common with you, the reader, who may not have even heard of the Young Lords, or who may not be Puerto Rican or African American? Foreword xi. Though on the surface things appear different now, sadly, little has changed.

This book brings back so many memories from the 70's when the Young Lords were at their peak and gives good insight as to who they were and what they stood for. It's filled with excerpts from the Young Lords newspapers and speeches.

Learned so much about organizing, about PR history in the US. Got a chance to meet some of the women who contributed their words to this book and their feeling still hold true today. I highly recommend this book for anyone looking to further their knowledge based about oppressed people in the US.

I chose this book to learn about my history and it didn't disappoint. The short articles on history were on point and comprehensive.

The book was new, no scratches, no highlighting. I loved it. Thank you!

A good, comprehensive collection of hard to find speeches, documents, and articles from the Palante newspaper. Offers the reader a solid understanding of who the Lords were and what they stood for. A testament to the rich tradition of Puerto Rican/Latino activism in the U.S.

Excellent resource if you are looking to learn about the Young Lords and their ideologies. The intro by Iris Morales and Denise Oliver is very interesting and helps us to understand how some of the Young Lords today are reflecting on their actions 40+ years ago.
