The Knights Templar book. This book which is authored by Stephen Howarth was loaned to me by a man of the same name who is my neighbor who is not the author. Howarth presents his history as an engaging story, involving the reader emotionally with many of the persons and events described and giving enough historical and sociological background to allow even those new to the period enough sense of context to follow along. Yeah I know that is strange. But that is another story.

It was written about 40 years ago so it doesn't address/mention the more current interest, like did they go to Scotland, was Columbus related to Templars, did they go to North America, etc. It's basically a conventional history of the Crusades and the prosecution of the Templars.

Braendo

Frdi

This was a gift and it's being enjoyed

Without a doubt the best book I have read on the Templars. It barely touches on the mechanics of battles, but is superb as an overview of the Crusades and the Templars' part in them. Excellent profile of key actors and issues in both Europe and the Holy Land. Easy and informative reading.
