Also, Philip I is well-known for being one of the early Protestant rulers of Germany. He had championed the independence of the prince of Germany against Charles V, the Holy Roman Emperor. Taking after Bucer's recommendation, the landgrave now continued to step with the trust of setting up religious peace between the Roman Catholics and Protestants.
