A Domestic History of Erddig. These trends have led to a broader conception of history, which rejects the belief that the histories of great events and of 'everyday life' are quite unconnected. In recent years historians have shifted their focus sharply, perhaps excessively, from 'upstairs' to 'downstairs', from high politics and the activities of the great and/or famous to the lives and culture of the masses.
