It was Mackenzie's position with Good Housekeeping which led to her being asked to take a screen test for a new show which would become How Clean Is Your House?.

AGGIE MacKenzie says she has not spoken off camera to former co-host Kim Woodburn, 77, since the bust-up at a theatre in Brighton in 2007. The Scottish telly star, 63, accused Kim of 'overstepping the mark' during the row. The pair continued to work together for years after the row, fronting TV shows and writing a best-selling book. Some of the terms used by Kim and Aggie are unfamiliar to me. I can figure out most of them in context, but a glossary would have helped. I've happily watched their tv series, but the book has much less information than I had expected: large print, wide margins and glossy pages, but not too much data in there. Their emphasis on manual scrubbing doesn't work for me personally - rather than getting on my hands and knees and working my way through the toilet wearing long rubber gloves, I swish with a Clorox toilet wand and disposable pad. So their methods may take more work and time. I would have liked to know more about their make-it-yourself formulas using eco-friendly substances like white vinegar, baking soda, lemon and salt. Overall, the book was a bit disappointing, but I applaud their efforts to get everyone to keep a clean home!

Kim Woodburn and Aggie MacKenzie tackle some of the messiest houses on two continents, and they do it with humor and style. Just because you're elbow deep in muck is no reason not to look elegant! (I especially like their glamorously trimmed rubber gloves.)

This terrific companion book to the TV series, "How Clean Is Your House," isn't a comprehensive guide on how to clean anything and everything. It's just a fun little book with hundreds of tips from Kim and Aggie. It's hard to keep reading though - you keep wanting to get up and dust something!

The chapter called "Getting Started" includes both ladies' preferences for putting together an essential cleaning kit. Kim and Aggie prefer simple, easily available things like white vinegar, salt, baking soda, lemons, laundry soap - even denture cleaning tablets. It's amazing how common items and a little elbow grease work miracles if you know when and where to use them.

Other chapters offer advice on Kitchens, Living Rooms, Bathrooms, Bedrooms, Pets and Allergies.

These ladies really know how to motivate people and make cleaning fun!

The television show by the same name was my guilty pleasure. It doesn't appear on any of my stations anymore so I had to get my "fix" by buying this book. I'm glad I did because all those cleaning solutions the gals showed being used on their show are now at my fingertips. I appreciate any cleaning aids that are non-toxic and readily available (and it helps if they're already in my pantry). This book is a helpful, as well as enjoyable, guide to keeping a home clean and healthy. The less chemicals we can introduce into our enclosed environment, the better. These gals make it easy to keep your home clean and much less toxic.

I liked the information that this book has. Very useful advices on how to keep your house clean using simple handy products such as baking soda, ice cubes, even banana peel.

The design of the book, however, is not that "clean", but very noisy. This makes it hard to read - white font on pink page (p.55), white on dark yellow (p.58), white on brighter yellow (pp.62-63), white on colorful photo (p.150). To make a long story short - I would really like the designer of the book to be less creative. May be the book would look more formal, but much easier to read. Something to think about when/if the book is going to be reprinted!

I hate to clean. I mean, I love a clean HOUSE, but never much cared for the process. Well, now thats in the past! These two wonderful, whimsical ( yet tough!) British ladies have actually made it fun! They are witty, thorough, and not afraid to get their hands dirty. It was vindicating to me to see how spotless my apartment ( or FLAT, were I living in London!) is compared to some of the filth traps they visited and photographed. I find their accents charming..and I love how they can scold the homeowner while still being these sweet, dignified ladies! The book was a fun read, and the show is even more fun to watch!

Kim and Aggie change lives- If you have never seen the TV show, these women go into homes that should rightfully be condemned, clean them from top to bottom, and return them to the owners with stern warnings to "keep it clean". The book is an extension of this fantastic show that literally transforms people's lives. One can easily underestimate how much cleanliness and order contributes to a happy life. This book is a great guide to achieving and maintaining such order. The cleaning tips and methods are smart and easy and the cleaning solutions they use made from borax, salt, vinegar, baking soda, lemon to name a few are "cheap and cheerful". Cleaning made fun.

I really loved the show. I just happened across it and wondered if they had a book. They do! I love this book. It's funny and has great ideas for cleaning. Very pleased.

The tv series was fun. Now I have all their hints in a handy book. And no store bought cleaners with questionable chemicals.
