Cousins Roger and Alistair become lifelong friends when they meet as boys in 1954.
Cousins Roger and Alistair become lifelong friends when they meet as boys in 1954. They discover their homosexuality and their lives intersect against the backdrop of 20th-century gay culture, from the beachboy surfer days of the 1960s, to Greenwich Village AIDS activism in the 1990s. From Publishers Weekly. Though Picano's latest may lack the significance implied by its subtitle, his memorable characters and wonderfully dishy dialogue evoke changing gay sensibilities with affecting measures of both tragedy and comedy.
Felice Picano's first book was a finalist for the PEN/Hemingway Award "Ambidextrous" bills itself as being about the secret lives of children. Not really so much of a secret, as just forgotten by people once they get to be adults

Ambidextrous" bills itself as being about the secret lives of children. Not really so much of a secret, as just forgotten by people once they get to be adults. Ambidextrous by Felice Picano. Unfortunately, the book is a slow tedious read and not Mr. Picano's best effort. This is a tale told in the first person of Mr. Picano's youth, from ages 10 to 13 and his many sexual encounters with both boys and girls. It is a time capsule of life of young teenagers in the fifties. His homosexual relationship with Richard Victor (Rickie) Hersch is genuine, and a marvel to read, but his heterosexual relationships with Susan Flaherty and Franny Solomon are tedious and Ambidextrous by Felice Picano.
Ambidextrous: The Secret Lives of Children (1985), is a novel by the American author Felice Picano. Major themes include adolescent sexuality and coming out. A "bold, funny and excruciatingly honest" biographic tale of the author's own childhood and coming out experience, that inevitably affects the reader's retrospective view of his own childhood memories.
Picano's bold, funny and outrageously honest memoir of suburban 1950s childhood forever altered how we remember childhod . Although I am a fan of Felice Picano, and this novel is well written, Ambidextrous is a slow read.
Picano's bold, funny and outrageously honest memoir of suburban 1950s childhood forever altered how we remember childhod and how we think of it today.

This is my professional page. Come here to see what I've been doing lately and where I will be presenting my work. Felice came to Hollywood in 1977 to work on an adaptation of his best selling novel, and was bi-coastal until his move in 1995. Felice's newest book is Justify My Sins: A Hollywood Novel in Three Acts.
Wilbur Boyle said, glancing at a page or two of the manuscript Noel had handed in a few days before. An excellent beginning. The glossary is an especially good idea. If Boyle were satisfied with a mere fifty pages-most of which were index, glossary, and charts-he’d be knocked out by the rest. These semantic progression charts are fine. Likewise these artificial kinship tables you prepared.
