Recently, I started to read To Have and Have Not by Ernest Hemingway but I put that book on hold and am currently reading a short story by Hemingway called Big Two-Hearted River. Big two-hearted river -A way you'll never be -In another. It is about a boy Nick who is living in a destroyed Michigan and his journey across the nature the earth brings to him including the Great Lakes of America. Personally, I wouldn’t recommend it for someone like me since I am not a very good reader and am easily distracted if the book doesn’t attract me right away.

The story was about coming back from the war, as Ernest Hemingway later explained in A Moveable Feast (1964), but there was no mention of the war in it. Unless the reader knows In Our Time (1924, 1925), Hemingway’s first collection of short stories, Big Two-Hearted River will not make complete sense.
