Of mice and men. Penguin books.
Of mice and men. Of mice and men. Born in Salinas, California, in 1902, JOHN STEINBECK grew up in a fertile agricultural valley about twenty-five miles from the Pacific Coast-and both valley and coast would serve as settings for some of his best fiction. In 1919 he went to Stanford University, where he intermittently enrolled in literature and writing courses until he left in 1925 without taking a degree.
Of Mice and Men is a novella written by John Steinbeck. Steinbeck based the novella on his own experiences working alongside migrant farm workers as a teenager in the 1910s (before the arrival of the Okies that he would describe in The Grapes of Wrath)

He took off his hat and wiped the sweat-band with his forefinger and snapped the moisture off. His huge companion dropped his blankets and flung himself down and drank from the surface of the green pool; drank with long gulps, snorting into the water like a horse.
John Steinbeck's "Of Mice and Men" is a touching tale of the friendship between two men set against the backdrop of the United States during the Depression of the 1930s. Subtle in its characterization, the book addresses the real hopes and dreams of working-class America. Steinbeck's short novel raises the lives of the poor and dispossessed to a higher, symbolic level. Its powerful ending is climactic and shocking to the extreme. But, we also come to an understanding of the tragedy of life
Of Mice and Men book. A short but very memorable read from the famed pulitzer winner John Steinbeck.
Of Mice and Men book. A little 100p novella about the unbreakable bonds of friendship, and the cruelties of a sometimes hostile rural world. Still remaining, "East of Eden", or "The Grapes of Wrath", someday. One of those very few exceptions where the movie may actually match the book. John Steinbeck creates two immortal characters, but the movie (1992) gives them a real palpable soul. by. John Steinbeck. Of Mice and Men also represents an experiment in form, as Steinbeck described his work, a kind of playable novel, written in novel form but so scened and set that it can be played as it stands. A rarity in American letters, it achieved remarkable success as a novel, a Broadway play, and three acclaimed films. Steinbeck’s tale of commitment, loneliness, hope, and loss remains one of America’s most widely read and beloved novels.
Publication Date: November 23, 1937. Adaptation: No. Read A Sample Of Mice and Men is a book by John Steinbeck and was published in 1937, it relates a story of George Milton, (who was very intelligent though uneducated) and Lennie Small whom was strong and built well but ‘is not brilliant’. They were two migrant workers in the field on a plantation located in Canada during the Great Depression. They both had dreams of eventually owning a piece of land and being able to settle down. Lennie’s version consisted of him tending to soft rabbits on a farm.
My book is from The Viking Press. It contains six short novels. The one exception is that the first short novel in the book is "Tortilla Flat". The second is "The Red Pony". Mr. Jackson explains this. These are followed by "Of Mice and Men", "The Moon Is Down", "Cannery Row", and "The Pearl". I read "The Red Pony First".
