The final cut. 'The magnificent new novel from Michael Dobbs, the man who knows Westminster from the inside. This book has it all - action, passion and wonderfully wicked double-dealing in the corridors of power. Urquhart is a magnificent creation. In Francis Urquhart he has created a true political icon. Dobbs lays fair claim to being the Quentin Tarantino of pulp political fiction.

Michael Dobbs is also Lord Dobbs of Wylye, a member of the British House of Lords. The final book in the trilogy did not disappoint. He is Britain's leading political novelist and has been a senior adviser to Prime Ministers Margaret Thatcher, John Major and David Cameron. His bestselling books include House of Cards, which was made into an award winning TV series in the UK and is currently being remade into a major US television series by Kevin Spacey and the director David Fincher. It is very well written and the characters are interesting and well developed. Sorry it is the final book in the series.

You see, Max. There's another thirty thousand a year that will have to be found. Stanbrook had grown pale, as though haemorrhaging. I think the fund will just about run to that, . en't thought of the grass, have you? A surprising omission for a Secretary of State for the Environment. The grass? What's the bloody grass got to do with it?'. Everything, as I shall explain.

The reader doesn't truly get to know Urquhart's wife, Mortima, until the final third of the story. Having been a huge fan of the PBS House of Cards trilogy on cable television, VHS, then DVD, since its first airing, I decided I had to own the DVD trilogy for myself. Then I really got interested in author Michael Dobbs, and wanted to see for myself how the original written word translated into the screen versions I've enjoyed so much. I was not disappointed. Though the book and the screenplay different in detail (but what adaptation doesn't...) I truly enjoyed reading the Dobbs original. This is brilliant writing!

Anaginn
Compared to the other books in the trilogy this was a hard read.
There were so many characters to keep track of. The ending was a complete surprise.

Ballagar
The final book in the trilogy did not disappoint. It is very well written and the characters are interesting and well developed. Sorry it is the final book in the series.

Oparae
a very enjoyable series as i loved the ian richardson version in the 90's.. great read

House of Cards, an HBO series is based on this novel. I am glad that I watched the series first, because otherwise I would have found this book rather boring.

Umor
This was by far the weakest of the Cards trilogy. The book started so well but then fell away badly. What a pity!

Gunos
This is part of the trilogy, but I forget if this is the last or the 2nd. All three books are interesting and fun to read.

Jumping from storyline to storyline got tedious. Surprise ending a little contrived. Altogether, a satisfactory end to trilogy.
