The Hymn and Night Plague. THE HYMN - In the Californian desert a bus load of people have burned in what the police think is a gruesome suicide pact. Lloyd Denman thinks otherwise for he has already begun an investigation following the horrific death of his fiancee that will take him back into the past, back to someone who helped create the horrors of Nazi Germany and who is now redefining the meaning of terror.

They are five ordinary people, forced to do battle on the most terrifying field imaginable - the landscape of nightmares. They are the Night Warriors and only they can defeat the evil that has invaded our world through our dreams. Two of the cruelest and most horrific apparitions ever seen are attempting to destroy our world by entering the dreams of expectant mothers. They bring with them armies of nightmare creatures, horrible beings that could only spring from someone’s worst fear. It is against these demons, in an unreal world of terror, that the five Night Warriors must.

A state of emergency is declared across America as a new strain of bacillus sweeps across the nation with alarming speed and devastation - a combination of bubonic and various other plagues caused by incorrect disposal of the nation's waste products. Dr. Petrie scratched his stubbly chin, and then nodded. Last night's party had left him feeling as if someone had hit him in the face with a rubber hammer, but he recognized real anxiety when he saw it.

Graham Masterton Plague Book One THE PLAGUE One He was still half-asleep when the doorbell rang. It rang again, long and urgent, and he opened his eyes and discovered it was morning. Just a minute!' he croaked, with a sleep-dry mouth. The doorbell wouldn't wait, though, and kept on calling him. He swung his legs out of bed, groped on the floor for his discarded.

Grotilar
This is a great story from the master of suspense. I really enjoyed it, from star, to finish.
Cheers, Dennis.

The characters could have been better developed to make a real horror book. There was a pretty disjointed flow, too. The blind Indian boy was the best character ever! He created a time warp that was a genius idea!

Zyangup
It's about a ritual that makes people immortal. I read it under the title "The Burning."

It's a page-turner, as most Masterton books are, but the main character was annoying.

I would have been happy if he got killed early on and the story continued without him.

Zieryn
A pretty good read but a little slow in the beginning.

Miromice
A great Graham Masterton novel, to be sure. But warning for GM

shoppers and fans: this is a resurrected edition of his earlier

work THE BURNING. I found out the hard way when I ordered it through the mail and, surprise-surprise, found I'd already read

it.

Adoraris
A man's fiancee publicly burns herself to death in a ritualistic manner. The man, stunned, seeks to find out why.
The Hymn A.K.A. The Burning. This is one of Graham Masterton's books from the early nineties. I read this back then but over the years, I'd pretty much forgotten what it was about. I do remember that I liked it. Just recently, I got the Kindle version and read it again. It holds up very well and I enjoyed it yet again. The only questionable point I had with it is that it contains so many paranormal elements in one book. Seems that could, perhaps, overburden a book. Somehow, Masterton made it work. It was an enjoyable read and demonstrated Masterton's mastery of the horror genre. I'm not saying I love everything by him that I've read, but he's a first-rate writer and has produced a lot of truly first-rate horror novels—ones that are 'really' horror novels and not dark fantasy in disguise.
