Wilson, Dolores J. Varying Form of Title: Dolores J. Wilson's Barking goats and the redneck mafia.

Bertie Byrd Fortney never thought she’d be spending her wedding night in a maternity ward. But her best friend went into labor right in the middle of the conga line at Bertie and Arch’s wedding reception, and it wasn’t until her friend’s son made his entrance into the world that Bertie, her husband, and her stepdaughter could leave on their motor home honeymoon. The trip’s trials, however, leave Bertie wondering if a honeymoon is some kind of test a woman must pass before becoming a wife. To add to her tribulations, Bertie returns to Bertie’s Garage and Towing to find Linc, her tow truck driver, is being threatened by the Redneck Mafia. The mob boss has told Linc to return to Atlanta to marry his daughter, or he will move him there himself, one body part at a time. And then Bertie is taken hostage by a man who has taught his goats to bark and his twins to talk. A mistake on both counts, in Bertie’s not-so-humble opinion. Finally, a bizarre accident involving an elderly drunken citizen Linc mistakes as a hit man, a golf cart, a trip to the hospital, and a positive pregnancy test has tongues wagging in Sweet Meadow, Georgia. Did Bertie really get knocked up on a golf cart by her tow truck driver? Will Bertie be able to douse the rumors? Will she be able to save her faithful employee from the mob? More importantly, will she pass the wife test?
That was an agonizing sappy hallmark type book. The main character was always crying and on the verge of nervous hysteria about every little thing. She was an almost middle age woman who was constantly sticking out her tongue at people, slugging men in the arm and rolling her eyes. I felt like I was reading about a 6 yr old instead of a grown woman. The goat antics was the best part. Weirdly she deferred to the goats hooves as "paws"!

I thought this book was much better than the last one in this series. Much better written, the storyline makes more sense, not as many(there still are a few) cuss words. There still is some suggestive content, but I don't think as much. This time I am going to read the next book. Last time I said I wouldn't, but I decided to give the series a second chance. Overall,I think the book was pretty good. There were a few things that I would have written/done/phrased differently, but I still enjoyed it. It had some funny parts and some sweet parts and some kind of cling-to-the-edge-of-your-seat parts, too. A nice mixture of all of them. So I do suggest this book. Its a good book overall. It has a nice happy ending.

This book tells the story of a mom who runs a tow truck business. Her life is filled with adventures and fairly insane people. The laugh-out-loud parts are hilarious, and the book gets better and better as more characters in the form of police, neighbors, strangers, children, and animals show up.

It's almost impossible to second guess most parts of the story because the players are too eccentric for the reader to know what any of them Will get into next. Highly recommend as an uplifting, charming and entertaining read for everyone who likes zany characters and to laugh a lot

Seems I am the only one who found no humor in this book. What is called humor was like seeing a slap stick movie. The happenings were just plain boring to me and can be found in any B rated book. An Evanovitch she is not. I do not know why I even finished it except I found the little girl entertaining and wanted to see if she got her wish. Otherwise I would have put it down because of the boring so called humor. I did laugh once just a few pages before it ended. Sorry. Most people liked it.

This is book 2 in the series. It picks up right where book one left off, so please read the books in order. I loved this book. It is wholesome, funny, and deals with family and friends. This is a great read for everyone. Dolores Wilson hit another homerun with this book.

I love Mercedes
It may be #2 in the Sweet Meadow series, but reading them in any order is fine. (I accidentally read this one first) You won't get all the jokes, but there are so many funny parts you don't even miss them. The book is hilarious. It is heartwarming and very different than any books I've read. I highly suggest you give it a try!
