Anne Rivers Siddons is the epitome of a Southern writer with her layers-deep, complicated characters, all joined at the hip since childhood, and her masterful depictions of each setting, indoors or out. Islands takes place in Charleston, South Carolina, and in surrounding areas such as Sullivan's Island and St. John's Island.
