I actually really liked this story. I think the premise was realistic although I wouldn't want it to be me. It sounds disrespectful for Becca to have had sex with her husband's best friend the night of the funeral but stuff happens and we all grieve/need comfort in our own way. Who am I to judge the right or wrong of it. I liked the tug of war with dealing with the grief, the guilt, the obligation, the denial, coupled with the children and the in-laws and day to day life that went on around them. Rick was a good guy.

Becca's husband, Gabe died suddenly of a heart attack leaving a major void in her life. He also died without life insurance putting her and their family in a bind financially. As she struggles to make ends meet, she finds herself getting more and more run down until she finally sees a doctor. What he tells her will change her life entirely. She is pregnant.

Becca has only slept with one man her entire life until the night of Gabe's wake. That night she turned to his best friend, Rick for support and finds herself making love with their friend. They both agree to put it behind them and to forget it happened. Now that she is pregnant she is praying this is Gabe's last gift to her, but what if it is Rick's baby?

This is the book of dreams. As Becca's dreams are shattered by her husband's death she realizes just how scary life can be with all of its unknowns and she has to come up with a life plan for herself and her children. When Rick steps up to the plate as a friend and she realizes what happened with Rick might not have been a fluke, maybe her friend could be more. Finding love after her husband's death may have seemed far fetched to her before, but having had months to grieve and work through the emotions, she is ready to move on - but is her family...

BABY, I'M YOURS is emotionally driven and fully well rounded to make a great novel. Becca and Rick are great main characters. Her in-laws and children make great secondary characters. The only flaw in the characters was Rick's adult daughter. I felt she could have played a larger role in showing what a great man and father he will be for the new baby. All in all, Carrie Weaver has written an emotionally charged story that kept this reader reading long into the night.

Becca Smith is stunned when her spouse Gabe dies without any warning. Following his funeral the grieving Becca turns to Gabe's business partner, Rick Jensen, also in mourning, for comfort. Although he knows he must not out of respect for his and best friend Gabe he cannot resist offering her sympathy starting with a hug that soon leads to them making love.

Several weeks later, Becca knows she is pregnant, but is unsure whether the late Gabe is the father or Rick. She tells Rick, who wants to be there for the baby regardless of whose DNA is part of the child's make-up. As he and Becca try to forge a relationship, both remain haunted by guilt and grief.

Although the sex after the funeral seems a disrespectful stretch, fans will appreciate this interesting contemporary tale of grief, guilt, and relationships. Becca is a fascinating lead character as she goes through the grief process compounded by her guilt over having sex with Rick. He is the more fascinating protagonist as he wants to raise the child with the woman he loves, but feels obligated by guilt to assume the baby is Gabe's even if it really is his. Readers will appreciate this deep look at two people struggling with what is the right thing for everyone but themselves as they each feels they are the least deserving.
