Resurrection in May. Published in Nashville, Tennessee, by Thomas Nelson.

And should it be? Truthful, comic, heartbreaking, and magical in the very best sense of the word, The Sky Beneath My Feet gently tears the veil off our egos and expectations to reveal the throbbing, redemptive, and achingly beautiful life beyond and within us. The Sky Beneath My Feet is bright. The Sky Beneath My Feet is bright but unassuming. The protagonist totally enchants both one's spirit and one's mind with her shrewd insights and gentle humility. Lisa Samson can write. No question. But her stuff challenges the straight line faith and pokes my heart with a stick. I don't read her for her theology but when it's time to look at life differently; seeing people instead of causes (to borrow her words), or a larger variety of circumstances than contained within my world.
Her characters are usually a little cracked and off beat, but leave me wishing I could sit at the table for coffee and conversation with them! I truly think she evokes 4 star review averages simply because the story lines, characters, and depiction of faith are unsettlingly out of the ordinary.
keep it up, Lisa!

This book had some important messages, but overall this was not my kind of book. I found myself skimming just to get to the end. While I liked some of the characters, there were some that I didn't like. I had trouble understanding Beth and what she was searching for. I don't identify with drugs, drinking, and adultery.

It seems to me that the main idea is that you find yourself through service. Good idea, would like more emphasis on relationship with Christ as the overarching goal.
Service to the community is great, but without him being the center, it is empty as well.

Though I find much of Christian fiction rather flat with pat answers, this dealt with real issues within the church and with purpose as we walk out our callings. The concept intrigued me, hubby locked in a shed, and it held my interest. True to life, not every issue is solved but progress is made and purposes discovered. Quick read, enjoyable!

I chose this book because I had just finished a book that was heavy and depressing. I wanted some light reading... well, it turned out that I had chosen a book full of surprises, fun characters, lots of smiles, and really good life lessons.

Ok, now I will choose another book written by Lisa Samson. I sure hope there are lots!

JOGETIME
This is a book where nothing really happens. The characters are supposedly Christian, but they do things mindlessly and seem to be controlled by the rules or their religion rather than true spirituality. Some of the descriptions of scenery are quite beautiful, though.

Unlike a lot of books aimed at the Christian readership, this one is not sappy and one-dimensional. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and thought it both honest and thought-provoking without being preachy. I was interested in all the characters and it kept me engaged to the end.
