Adrienne Mesurat book. Julien Green's Adrienne Mesurat is a difficult book to read, primarily because it is in the genre that could best be described as the unrelieved decay of the main character. This character is Adrienne, an 18-year-old girl with a sickly older sister and a tyrannical father. When the sister, Germaine, runs away from home, and the father dies (with an assist from his younger daughter), Adrienne is left without an anchor.
