Jade Lee never fails to delight her readers and this books was no exception. I thought it was going to be about the dragons in the caves but it was about the dragon dynasty xi Lin monks. Published on July 2, 2014. This book was part of a series but stands well on its own. The characters are well rounded and the plot was a page turner.

The Dragon Pearl is a 2011 family film that follows the story of two teenagers who meet in China to encounter a real live Chinese dragon, and also discover the mystery behind the whereabouts of his all powerful pearl.

Driven by rage and revenge against those who had slaughtered his family in far-off China, Jacob Cato returns to England to reclaim his English heritage and the woman he left behind. Original.

Well. I finished the book. I guess I finished, that is, because it ended. However, the big mystery of the story (who hired the bandits to kill Jacob's family) was never concluded. WHAT THE HECK?

Jacob appears the day of Evelyn's marriage to Christopher, the next Earl of....something or other. I found myself not carring enough to remember. He startles the wedding guests by walking up the aisle in the saffron robes of a Chinese monk and stating that HE is rightfully the current Earl and Evelyn is betrothed to HIM. A little martial arts scene comes next and then they all adjourn to the wedding-that-didn't-happen breakfast to discuss.

No one believes that the crazy monk is Jacob. He is dead. His entire family was killed by bandits while on a journey through China. Obviously, the madman is an imposter and will be dealt with by lawyers and such.

Evelyn is a woman who doesn't know what she really wants in life. She has always been raised as a future countess. She knows no other destiny. But her rigid, confining upbringing has left her longing for something more. Something she only finds in the midst of powerful thunderstorms. She feels that electricity when she looks into Jacob's eyes.

Is he really Jacob? Who has the legitimate claim to the title? Someone in England had hired the bandits to kill Jacob's father and family. Who was it?

Well, don't be disappointed to know that only two of those questions get answered. I just stared at the "THE END" and said "What the heck? Are you serious?"

I was intrigued by the beginning of the book. The interruption of the important wedding by Monks! But the whole premise of murdered nobles in a foreign land, paid for by English Gold, was left dangling at the end. I love a good romance. But I also need more than two people looking deeply into each other's eyes, and sighing for 300 plus pages. The whole idea of a "who-dun-it" included captured my attention. To only be left wanting in the end. What happened? Who killed the Earl and his wife and daughter? Who paid for it? What is Christopher's story in this? Alas, no sequel, not even an epilog to help tie up these IMPORTANT loose ends. Sorry, Jade, you blew it!

What a delicious read. Very different especially when the book starts out with a bald headed Earl who wishes to be a monk is dressed in a robe that survived living in China due to the murder of his family. He arrives back in England just in time to stop a wedding that was suppose to be his and has to kick some butt. What a way to start a story that was not a disappointment. Thoroughly charming and funny. Loved it. Now I am looking for the book on his cousin, Chris.

This story just blew me away, the ending ,the story is so different from what i was use to i could not put it down until i finished the story. i will say all those romance readers this a great story, must read. Should have more stories like the aspects this one, keeps you on your toes for sure. The romance is great too, the scenes are hot for sure. pull you right in story from the beginning.

There was so much wrong with this book that I don't know where to start. I felt as though I was on a roller coaster throughout. The fact that the true Earl was so high minded as to not care about getting justice for his family just didn't wash. Sorry I just wouldn't recommend wasting your money.

A returning monk from China must find his place in English society even though he feels his heart is not really in it. The girl he was promised to has grown into a beautiful woman but his desire to return to China is strong. Which side will win? The monk or the man?

I loved this story. It was refreshingly different from most other regencies that I have read. It was not the usual play on manners and rules of society. It was about the developing relationship between the two main characters and what each wanted out of life.

Characters and background, but predictable just the same. I would have liked to read more of their travels and growth.
