The scientific evidence supporting evolution and anthropogenic climate change is overwhelming. Yet nowhere has the battle of science versus ignorance and skepticism been more pitched than in these realms. His interest in the natural sciences, particularly in geology, led him to undertake many excursions to study and describe the largely unknown natural features of his adopted country  . Writing or talking to a public with minimal background in science and or the media is very different from communicating members of the scientific community.
