I think people who write an ecology book should realize that people are going to take it out into the field with them. That being said this book should have sturdier binding. Overall the text, diagrams and figures are great. It is written clearly and it's not boring like some Ecology books tend to be. I like the way there is almost a figure and several diagrams for every principle, and it is also not heavy on the math (which is important, but not for an general ecology text). I recommend the text, but if you or your students are going to go outside, or camping or to the beach, know that this will not withstand a strong wind.

Bought as a "recomended" addition to my study material for my ecology class. It provides a good general idea of ecological concepts but it didn't really get detailed enough for my tastes and for what I wanted to know. I ended up using it as a reference every so often and if I needed detail I went to a different book.

This book is simply necessary for those who pretend to learn and understand ecology. It's very well written and treats all the mandatory topics in ecology. As an extremely complex science, ecology needs a direct and clear approach and few authors can do that the same way Begon and his colleagues do. The book has a pleasant reading and is full with context examples; it brings the most recent issues in ecology as the functional ecology view of the communities and its relationship with the environment.

A must ecology textbook!

Very good textbook. I needed it for my class readings. It turned out to be very useful. Very good explanation.

Very clean almost brand new book. Thank you.

Throw her heart
Is a essencial book to ecologists

fascinating examples, extremely clear for individuals who are new to ecology, although one might find it a bit too detailed.
