Gas Chromatography (GC) is undoubtedly the most widely used technique for the separation and analysis of volatile compounds. Yet comprehensive guides to contemporary GC theory and practice are surprisingly hard to find. Basic Gas Chromatography fills this significant void in the GC literature. Written by two well-known practitioners and educators in GC, it offers thorough coverage of the basic principles and techniques of modern gas chromatography.

Basic Gas Chromatography.

Download it once and read it on your Kindle device, PC, phones or tablets. Use features like bookmarks, note taking and highlighting while reading Basic Gas Chromatography. Basic Gas Chromatography. The book was written in a format that make it easy to understand with more emphasis on the practical side rather than ical treatment. After 40 years of intensive development, gas chromatography is still a very formidable technique.

This book provides a quick need-to-know introduction to gas chromatography; still the most widely used instrumental analysis technique, and is intended to assist new users in gaining understanding quickly and as a quick reference for experienced users

The New Edition of the Well-Regarded Handbook on GasChromatography

Since the publication of the highly successful first edition ofBasic Gas Chromatography, the practice of chromatography hasundergone several notable developments. Basic GasChromatography, Second Edition covers the latest in the field, giving readers the most up-to-date guide available, whilemaintaining the first edition's practical, applied approach to thesubject and its accessibility to a wide range of readers.

The text provides comprehensive coverage of basic topics in thefield, such as stationary phases, packed columns and inlets, capillary columns and inlets, detectors, and qualitative andquantitative analysis. At the same time, the coverage also featureskey additions and updated topics including:

Gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS)
Comments:
Mash
A nicely written, easy to read, primer. It includes many tips and insights not covered in other textbooks. As in other books on the subject, there is a heavy bias towards the analysis of hidrocarbons, although reference is made to other materials such as essential oils. What I miss is an appendix with a couple of examples of analyses fully worked out, discussing the pros and cons of the decisions taken by the analyst regarding sample extraction and chromatographic analysis.

Dordred
This is a great book for an analytical chemist wanting to learn about G.C. The first edition form McNair was easy to read and understand and this second edition follows in the same foot steps. McNair makes the basic concepts easy to understand and apply. The trouble shooting is also great for beginners.

Deorro
Great reference. High reading level.

Shliffiana
Awesome book.

Rarranere
This is a terrific overview of basic gas chomatography. For decades, Harold McNair was the BEST person teaching gas chromatography.

Applied GC (gas chromatography) is as much an art as it is a science and has grown to be an invaluable tool for analytical work. Why not start with the best foundation of basics that one can get?

A very good reference for those who just start to learn gas chromatography. The book was written in a format that make it easy to understand with more emphasis on the practical side rather than theoretical/mathematical treatment. After 40 years of intensive development, gas chromatography is still a very formidable technique.

good information about all type of GC. Description and techniques instructions. It's a general book, so you'll not find deep information of a typical GC.
