I have been teaching basic first aid to rural mountain people in Vietnam for several years. This is a project called Village Lifesavers and is part of the humanitarian missions from Vets With a Mission. I chose this edition (there are others which are slightly different) as a guide for my training syllabus because it teaches everything in 3's....simple and easy to remember! My students are "Montagnards" who speak PaCo and KaTu and some Vietnamese....so SIMPLE is BETTER and lots of hands on practice. This book is perfect for my students who live in areas with no EMS and hospitals hours away. I would highly recommend it for both beginners and experts as a review. Thanks Jeffrey, for a wonderful resource.

I received the book today and did a cursory scan. I could tell it is going to be a good read and full of valuable information. It doesn't appear to be overly technical and covers real life things that one may encounter in the wilderness, in a survival situation, etc.

We needed info on how to deal with snakes and scorpions, our new intruders in our newly developed community. A must read for anyone who loves the wilderness.

After the course with Wilderness Medical Associates, I bought the book to have as a referance. It became much more as I learned more then I thought. It is a book that anyone going into the wilderness should have.

covers the most important medical information you need to know out in the woods clearly and succinctly. Clarifies the difference between limb-threatening and life-threatening emergencies, the three most important body systems, and what to do in any number of dangerous situations.

This book is simple for the layman to understand. Provides good detail into how the body reacts to wounds, infection, loss of blood etc. Educates the reader to understand the body systems which makes proper treatment understandable and predictable. No more trying to memorize what to do for this injury or that.
