I am a cardiology fellow and have completed my nuclear cardiology rotations and have recently taken the nuclear cardiology boards. I would not recommend this book for a fellow studying nuclear cardiology and especially not for someone who is preparing for the cardiology nuclear boards.

The book did some things quite well such as illustrations, tables, and tips on reading nuclear images. However, other books provide similar information. The biggest issue is that the book does not cover much of what I was asked about as a fellow and it did not cover multiple critical topics for the boards. For example there is no section on radiotracers and their properties to name one of many topics left out of this book.

I thought that the textbook by Iskandrian was much more helpful for the clinical side of the test and the book by Chandra was extremely helpful for the physics.

I just took the nuclear cardiology recertification boards and used this book to study. I originally bought the Iskandrian book and although Iskandrian is complete, it was like the book version of C-SPAN. I just couldn't bring myself to read it for any prolonged period of time. So I bought this book by Zaret. I found it much easier to read and was able to read it cover to cover to prep for the boards. I do have to say that I did have to refer back to Iskandrian for clarification and better coverage of some subjects, but reading through Zaret gave me a way to structure my own review course. The physics was not covered well enough and I would recommend an additional source to study physics from.

I use this for practice and I have used this book for board exams as well. It is structured well. I highly recommend it. Great book!

This book serves as a robust update for the cardiologist who reads nuclear studies.
It can also form the foundation of a comprehensive review for Nuclear Board Re-certification studies.
And clinical cases are discussed in the final section giving the reader additional clinical food for thought.
This book is perfect.
