A man who has unequivocally demonstrated his integrity, courage, and moral strength both before, during, and after the mining accident, and who is now using this experience to inspire the world.

Jose Henriquez was the second of seven children and began working in the mines at the age of 19. He became a qualified operator of large drilling machinery, a job that took him to work sites in several cities and at various mine locations. In 2010 he was one of 33 miners who survived the disastrous collapse of the San José mine located in the Atacama region of northern Chile. He played a unique role in those events as a child of God. He was able to help his companions in distress make a permanent commitment to God as they prayed and waited to be rescued.

How surprised I was to learn that Jose Henriquez was not only used by God to see his coworkers through the difficult situation of being entombed in a mine deep in the heart of the earth , but that he also is a speaker in popular demand. I was moved by his humble approach as he told his story. I could almost hear his voice as he took little credit for his courage and convictions. The rescuers, especially the psychiatrists expected to find the men with questionable sanity. The men came to the surface in relatively good shape. I have often wondered about situations like these. How do the men fare afterward. In this instance, they were given hope and direction from above through the obedience of a faithful servant. Thank you for this story.

I did enjoy reading how God worked in the lives Jose and the other miners trapped below the Earth in Chile. I was disappointed that more chapters were not dedicated to life in the mine during the many days they were there, how they survived, how they got along, how they reacted after they were discovered, how supplies reached them, the rescue itself, in other words more day to day details. It was much more interesting to see the news broadcast.

I was hoping for more information about the above ground rescue efforts. Certainly, if one is 2300 feet under ground, you're not there to see what was going on with the rescue personnel. I can appreciate the difficulties encountered while down in the mine, and how praying was the right thing to do. I also believe praying made the difference between living and dying in this case. Jose was inspirational in the fact that his unwavering faith helped all of them survive. I just wanted more information from the rescuers as well.

An amazing story of survival under extreme circumstances by the 23 miners underground for 79 days. Their working together and being able to get along with each other as well as acknowledging the 24th person in their midst, the Lord God himself, a powerful answer to consistent prayer and being one in all they did to keep themselves alive with limited food and places to exercise. An amazing answer to prayer as so many of them came to know Christ personally. Anj amzing story of God's grace and love I started reading it and couldn't put it down.

This is a wonderful testimony!! I can only imagine what this family went through. This story has brought much comfort and hope into my life. I want to say "God bless you, Jose". I am happy that Jose's wife wrote her feelings at the end of the book.
This is a book that should be read by everybody of all ages.

Because it is such a story of endurance and strength, working out the problems and the ultimate rescue showed how much they were bonded together for the common good. Inspirational.
