Being a Kentuckian, I always enjoy reading about influential Kentuckians in American History. This book was written in tribute to Mrs. Nunn in appreciation to her restoration of White Hall as well as a tribute to Cassius M. Clay and his memorable endeavors. Even if you dont agree with tactics of Clay, you have to admire his belief in himself, his intellect, his continued endurance whether in agreement with public opinion or not.
Clay probably had more to do with the outcome of the Civil War than many of us ever knew. I had known there were Russian ships on the East Coast and West Coast but never thought of Clay's possible connection to them being there.

A very interesting book about one of the real characters in Kentucky and early American history.
