The content of the present book is mainly focusing in the maritime conflicts looked at as one of the parts of the process of transformation that took place in Europe from the end-XVIII century to the mid-XVII century. The main lines of the subject transformation are quite well-known, Looking from the maritime perspective, some of the parts of this transformation process were considered particularly important. Jan Glete is Lecturer in History at Stockholm University in Sweden, and his books include Navies and Nations: Warships, navies and state building in Europe and America, 1500-1860. The Anglo-French War was a military conflict fought between the Kingdom of France and the Kingdom of England between 1627 and 1629. It mainly involved actions at sea. The centerpiece of the conflict was the Siege of La Rochelle (1627–28), in which the English crown supported the French Huguenots in their fight against the French royal forces of Louis XIII of France. La Rochelle had become the stronghold of the French Huguenots, under its own governance.
