The Good Life (Hackett Publishing C. ISBN. 0872204383 (ISBN13: 9780872204386). I read this book for an Introduction to Philosophy class in college at Uark. I found that the exploration of the "good life" from the different points of view presented here very interesting - it has a very wide range, from Aristotle to Augustine to Sarte and Nietzsche. Definitely worth reading if you have an interest in philosophy or just what you consider to be good and important in life.

What can you say after reading a book like "The Good Life"? To read through this collection of twenty-five essays by many of the greatest thinkers ever is to be awed and overwhelmed. There is so much wisdom here, and so many areas that could lead to more thought and investigation. Finally, it would have been nice to have an essay by Kierkegaard, but Guignon said he was unable to get permission. So what do you do on reading a book like this?

Charles B.

Organized around themes such as harmony with one’s self and with the world, right relation to God, the use of reason, self-exploration, and living in a disordered world, the selections in this anthology explore traditional philosophical thought from Plato to de Beauvoir on the topic of human flourishing.

Needed this for my Basic Philosophy class in college. It is full of good, inspiring words of literature. I have never been into Philosophy until this book.

Gavinranara

Obong
Good information and Ontology, Epistemology, Ethics, and the people's own testament to explain the world.

Nuliax
I use this in a class on happiness. Most of the readings are accessible enough for the novice reader. Historically organized.

Anarasida
Great book and cheap price!

Bloodhammer
The book was great but the shipping was very late! I had to re-buy the book in my college book store because the book off Amazon came to late but as far the book goes it is a great read and I would recommend it even if you're not taking a college course.

Usishele
Required textbook for a class.

Was described as good quality, once it arrived the cover was bent and ripped in multiple places and pages have rips in them.
