Alexander the Great: Myth, Genesis and Sexuality is Daniel Ogden's second major work that addresses the topic of procreation in the Macedonian court. In 1999 Ogden published Polygamy, Prostitutes and Death: the Hellenistic Dynasties, which main- tained the thought of Elizabeth Carney, William Greenwalt, and Waldemar Heckel. In Ogden's current work on Alexander the Great, he continues with the same grounding principle: that the kings were polyg- amous, which led their lines of children to become rivals with one another, usually at the instigation of their mothers
