THE INSIDERS by John F. McManus is a survey of "insider" domination in the last five administrations - from Carter to G.W.Bush's first term.

Mr. McManus traces the CFR back to it's roots and the man who founded the organization.

These "Insiders" have pushed their agenda for a "New World Order" on behalf of those with power and above all money. I call them "internationalists". On page 20 the author illustrates a point that rings especially true today. "Rather than improve the standard of living for other nations, world government will mean a forced redistribution of all wealth and a sharp reduction in the standard of living for Americans." What do we have today in America with rising unemployment?

Another interesting view was quoted from a Wall Street Journal article printed on April 10,1990. "The State Department and White House might conduct diplomacy in peace and command armies in war, but policy was made by serious people, men with a longer view,i.e. the great men of Finance and the advisers. New York was where they were to be found."- Paul H. Nitze, CFR member. Found on page 70.

Mr. McManus addressed the Clinton impeachment and why some high ranking Republicans kept the scope of the investigation limited.

The author points out the disturbing habit of most presidents of seeking sanction for war from the UN rather than Congress.

The best material in the book from my point of view was on pages 132-136 under the heading "Following the European Union Model". The program that he refers to is a larger merger of the Americas. It resembles the North American Union only on a larger scale. The CFR has published papers on a "North American Community" one titled "Creating a North American Community: Chairmen's Statement from an Independent Task Force on the Future of North America." That article is easily found with a search of the CFR website. The article is a must read for anyone seriously interested in the subject.

Mr. McManus provides source notes at the end of each chapter as well as alphabetical membership lists for the CFR and Trilateral Commission at the back of the book.

This is a very good book when it comes to explaining why both parties have an identical relationship to certain organizations. Only the names and faces change for each party.

This book is a "must" for those who follow the politics of the United States. The book covers the terms of several of our latest presidents and comments on who the "movers and shakers" really are... It identifies who are the driving forces behind some of our biggest political decisions...and surprisingly, it's not the president.
For those not politically inclined, this book will be boring.

U.S. Administrations for the 70 plus years have very much in common. Collectivization and centralization of power. Also, Presidential appointments to key positions rely on organizations who have a hidden agenda for America.

John F. McManus has been President of the John Birch Society for some time, and is also the author of books such as William F. Buckley, Jr.: Pied Piper for the Establishment,An Overview of Our World, etc. He wrote in the Introduction to this book (revised edition published 2004), "The Insiders explains much of what has gone wrong in America and who is causing her ills. We doubt that we will be accused of presuming too greatly in believing that most Americans know something is eating away at the foundations of this great nation... (and) have stimulated worries from coast to coast and from all sectors of our social and economic strata."

He wrote, "the Council on Foreign Relations has a great deal of clout. In our opinion, however, not every member of the CFR is fully committed to carrying out Edward Mandell House's conspiratorial plan. Many have been flattered by an invitation to join a study group, which is what the CFR calls itself... But all are used to promote the destruction of U.S. sovereignty." (Pg. 10) He adds, "The effect of the Council on Foreign Relations and the Trilateral Commission on the affairs of our nation is easy to see. Our own government no longer acts in its own interest; we no longer win any wars we fight; and we constantly tie ourselves to international agreements, pacts and conventions." (Pg. 17) Later, he argues that "all of America's wars since World War II have been UN wars." (Pg. 124)

He observes that after Ronald Reagan won the 1980 Republican nomination, "Conservatives across the nation were delighted. That is... until he shocked his supporters by selecting George Bush as his running mate. George Bush was the very epitome of the Insider Establishment type... at the Republican convention, the word 'betrayal' was in common usage." (Pg. 30-31) Later, he observes that in 2000 while neither Bush nor Gore were CFR members, "each eventually selected a running mate who possessed the Insider credential." (Pg. 115)

Special Counsel Kenneth Starr of course made allegations that resulted in the impeachment of President Clinton; but McManus charges that Starr "distinguished himself first by whitewashing allegations that foul play had led to the strange death of Vincent Foster. He followed that by producing no recommendations... regarding fraudulent land deals... In 2001, when the impeachment issue had faded from the headlines, Kenneth Starr was awarded membership in the CFR." (Pg. 97-98)

Provocative (often in surprising ways, such as the criticism of "conservative" Reagan), this book will be of considerable interest to those interested in "conspiratorial" theories of government.

If you want to have hope for America this isn't the book for you. If you want to know the truth about what is going on in America this IS the book for you. Good detail, well written and well documented. The Author is from the John Birch society and lays out the influence of the Council on Foreign Relations, its origins and impact today; as well as the Tri-Lateral Commission and its origins and influence. He also details the impact these two 'private' organizations have on those elected President. Great read, very informative.

Throw her heart
Have you ever wondered why the Western economy is investing in Communist China, while the bad human rights record is being ignored? Why is it, that those who warn about China's malicious Communist power are being browbeaten, scoffed and mocked? When you read this book, you will know the answer to those questions and to a great number of other questions about world politics. Can you tell me why an immoral and perjuring US president has never been impeached? I think this book has the answer.
