On November 9, 2004, the White House announced that Evans intended to resign by the end of January 2005. Evans was chosen to be the Non-Executive Chairman of TXU Energy, following the completion of its acquisition by Kohlberg Kravis Roberts and Texas Pacific Group.

Quirky artist Donald Evans (1945-1977) "put his whole life and everything that interested him into the stamps of his fantasy world" (Willy Eisenhart). This book includes more than 80 color reproductions of his stamps, which are passionately collected throughout the world, plus his "Map of the World" and a typewritten "Census of the World". This artist was unknown to me and I find his art and his process absolutely fascinating. If you are unfamiliar with Donald Evans, he creates countries, in all their complexity, and then designs postage stamps for them. The work is intricate and beautiful. The book has excellent photography.

Donald Evans was an American artist (1945–1977), who was known for creating hand-painted postage stamps (artistamps) of fictional countries. Evans died in a fire in the Netherlands in 1977. While Evans initially painted postage stamps as a child, he returned to making them in 1971, shortly after graduating from Cornell University and training as an architectural designer with Richard Meier and Associates in New York City.
