The arrangements are simple enough to be mastered by harp students who have had about a year of experience, can be sight-read by intermediate players, and include chord markings so that advanced players can fill out the accompaniment if they wish. Bundis

Grim King of the Ghosts is now one of my favorite songs to play. I especially like that she has included the words to all of these ballads as well. The pieces are suitable for advanced beginner through intermediate players, and use few accidentals. I did have to put sharping levers on my G's (I already had the C and F levers) for several of these pieces, though. It was well worth the expense.

This collection contains nice arrangements of early ballads. They are easy to read for an intermediate harper. Since the chords are provided they can be expanded in the way one uses a lead sheet.

The range is from bass C to G above treble C, a perfect fit for the standard 22 string lap harp.

I've spent many enjoyable hours with this book. Besides expanding my harp repertoire, I've learned a few more ballads to sing to myself while doing my housework. I highly recommend this book. My only complaint is that the stapled binding comes apart rather easily. I would suggest that once you get this book, go and get it cut and spiral bound, which is an inexpensive procedure at Kinkos or any office store with a printing center.

I am an older adult beginner harp student (but probably more to the advanced beginner stage now) and I absolutely love this book of music. Most of the pieces are easy enough for me to want to try and play and the songs are just beautiful. I love medieval and Renaissance music and old ballads and this has kept me playing happily for several months now. My harp teacher recommended it and I am really happy to have purchased it. Highly recommended.
