McComb is entertaining and engaging

McComb is entertaining and engaging. This book and audio presentation sets a perfect pace for people who know nothing about a guitar. There is a little bit of music theory, but nothing intimidating. You will not be a professional musician when you are done with this course, but you certainly will have the ability to strum along to a lot of songs out there and modify a lot of others to match the knowledge that you have gained. For the same amount of money, I'd get Arnie Berle's Beginning Fingerstyle Blues Guitar, which is much more substantive and more helpful if you ever want to get beyond the beginner's stage. 5 people found this helpful.

Books for People with Print Disabilities.

Teaches how to play the guitar without knowing how to read music or knowledge of music theory. Books for People with Print Disabilities. Internet Archive Books.

This te package is designed for people with music-lesson allergies. By the end, even the most raw beginner will be strumming along with such tunes as The Beatles' Help. A very cute children's book, though not quite as juicy as I was hoping for. It tells the story of a Meerkat who leaves home because he doesn't fit in. Each day of the week he stays at another relatives house and sends home a postcard. There is a post card on each day to read. Demonstrates basic guitar chords, explains how to select and tune a guitar, and shows how to play a variety of songs.

This is where I turned to learn the guitar. I had wanted to learn how to play the guitar for many years but never could find an engaging way of getting started without paying for lessons. I saw this book in a store somewhere, loved the text on the back cover and bought it. Ms. McComb is entertaining and engaging. This book and audio presentation sets a perfect pace for people who know nothing about a guitar. There is a little bit of music theory, but nothing intimidating. Just as importantly, you will have the confidence and ambition to pursue further. I love this book, and I have bought it for a few others who have found it very helpful as well.
Thank you, Ms. McComb, for finally teaching me how to play the guitar!

If you're a beginner but find most music lessons are too complicated or boring, this might be the book (& tapes) for you. MAKE SURE the seller includes the audio tapes, as I think they're essential, and most of the re-sellers don't seem to have them included.

The best guitar book in the world, although the slide guitar instructional book by David Hamburger is also the best guitar book in the world. Between the two any hopeless musician wannabe can become a for real guitar player and have for real fun.

Hawk Flying
Lots of fun for the beginning guitarist. I use it in my Senior Citizens class.

This was for my husband. Not sure how he feels about it

I recently purchased this book and tapes. I found it was a wonderful way to quickly learn a few tunes. The instruction was simple and easy to understand and the music was great! Just wish Carol would put out a video to go along with the book. That would even be better!

This book covers only the very basics, some open chords and strumming patterns. You'd be disappointed, like I was, if you're looking for a primer on playing real country & blues songs. For the same amount of money, I'd get Arnie Berle's Beginning Fingerstyle Blues Guitar, which is much more substantive and more helpful if you ever want to get beyond the beginner's stage.

I had problems with my order and I still give 5 stars because of the speed at which the store handled our problem.
