The other reviewers are right about the humor and charm of these photos.

However, in LIFE magazine they were full page, and beautifully printed which enhanced their impact. In this book, they are often partial page (many one third page), some cropped - and worst of all, very badly reproduced: blurry and with poor black and white contrast. Shame on Simon and Schuster for poor quality work in this age of high quality printing. I recommend the fine and reasonably priced "Life Platinum Edition" instead, until a better version of this comes out.

It is just as good a book as the LAUGHS LAST. What interesting Pictures, Having one's interest aroused, stimulated, and attentive

I purchased this book to use in group therapy with older individuals with aphasia. The LIFE books always had such great pictures and this book was suggested to me. When I received this book, I was very disappointed with the pictures. First, the paper is newsprint, not magazine quality glossy paper. Therefore, the pictures were not glossy, but were digital reproductions where every pixel could be seen. Black and white was expected,but not a palette of monochromatic gray squares where the picture was barely decipherable by my younger eyes. My 80 year old patients could never have seen one of them. I returned the item and am seeking an older one on ebay where I can ask the specific question about the quality of the pictures.
