Immigrant Ancesters is a most helpful book for genealogists! I had exhausted my resources on this side of the Atlantic. This booklet should have been titled something like: Immigrant Ancestors, A list of 2,500 immigrants from Massachusetts and some surrounding Colonies.

Immigrant Ancesters is a most helpful book for genealogists! I had exhausted my resources on this side of the Atlantic. I knew my pedigree lines, obviously, originated in Europe, but from which country was an unknown. The book was most helpful in giving valuable clues as to where to start looking on the other side of the pond. It is basically an index of the people who immigrated from Europe to the American shores, both pre & post American Revolution. 3 people found this helpful.

This book is valuable, don't get me wrong. It does list Immigrants alphabetically, most with a small paragraph including (when known) where they came from, parents, where they lived and spouse. What it is though, is more of an index to a 7-volume set of books. People that were mentioned frequently in the 7-volume are included in this conpendium, but not those who were mentioned infrequently. I think I would have purchased it anyway, but I was disappointed because I didn't receive what I thought I was purchasing. There is a preface in the book describing what it actually is and I wish that information had been included as part of the description.

The book was most helpful in giving valuable clues as to where to start looking on the other side of the pond. It is basically an index of the people who immigrated from Europe to the American shores, both pre & post American Revolution. It is full of information that has been gleaned from huge tomes of data. The information available in this little book includes, the names of the people, identification of ships they traveled on, names of family members that traveled with them, where they sailed from, when & where they landed, where they took their oath of felty, if they were sold into servitude to pay for their voyage, etc. The best part is that it is in alpabetical order; no fumbling with separate lists organized by country or year of passage. The book has been invaluable to me in furthering my research into my family history.

Not complete information on any individuals and not very many outside the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. My family settled in PA, but none were mentioned. This booklet should have been titled something like: Immigrant Ancestors, A list of 2,500 immigrants from Massachusetts and some surrounding
Colonies.

Your money better spent on a cup of Starbucks coffee.

the purchase and delivery, etc were excellent. The contents of the book were not quite what I expected but that is no reflection on the dealer,

FOUND ONLY 1 OF MY ANCESTORS; OH WELL, WASN'T TOO EXPENSIVE

I found a couple of my ancestors listed...but those were the ones I already knew about...the ones I was hoping to find...were not there.
