Kimberlee Auerbach made me laugh, love, and leap into the future open-armed, right along with he. It took me a while to finally purchase it because of my lack of knowledge in tarot, but the tarot cards were used as a tool to tell her past stories and relate to her current questions in life.

Kimberlee Auerbach made me laugh, love, and leap into the future open-armed, right along with her. If she's got a handful of cards, she knows how to deal them! Bravo! . My only regret is that it took me so long to finally purchase the book.

I picked this book up on a whim. Auerbach uses tarot cards to relive moments in her life. That said, given my antipa Kimberlee Auerbach, The Devil, the Lovers, and Me: My Life in Tarot (Dutton, 2007). I happened to be perusing the tarot section of my local library when I saw this book. I don't know why it wasn't with the memoirs, but the concept intrigued me. I was disappointed. Oct 24, 2018 An Drea rated it it was amazing.

Kimmi Auerbach has been in therapy. She’s seen a Reiki Master. In a Wizard of Oz like twist of fate, Kimberlee realizes she had the answers all alon. nd that it’s not about looking into the future, it’s about trusting yourself along the way. She’s even given hypnosis a try. Nobody can give her want she wants-to know her future is going to be bright, that everything will be okay. So she makes an appointment with Iris Goldblatt, tarot card reader and mirror to the soul.

Kimberlee Auerbach is brave and willing to examine her own life closely. 4. Which may give you some insight into yours. 5. And also into this particular moment in history. This book is not only a fantastic journey through Kimberlee's by turns painful and pee-your-pants funny life story - which would be enough for most of us - it also demonstrates the gutsy honesty of a woman not afraid to show us who she really is, crabs and all. She is brilliant, unfraid, and inspiring. When I grow up I want to be like Kimberlee Auerbach.

Kimberlee Auerback wields her pen with mastery and wit. She takes you on a journey of every women, one who has been there or fantasies about having her honesty, courage and ability to be relate-able and relevant. She will make you laugh, shock you but always entertain you with heartfelt spirit that grows from the deepest and darkest part of the soul. I devoured this gem in days. This work is brilliant, and I can only hope for more.

I have to say that I loved this book! There are not a lot of books or stories about Tarot readings. In fact, I read the whole book start to finish in one day. It is a true story.

Kimberlee is a great story teller. She should be as this is her life. It was painful to read at times. I almost didn't get it because she worked for Fox News. Then I thought, wait a minute, this might be interesting and guess what? It was interesting, very interesting. It took a lot of courage to write this story. I am a Tarot Reader and I loved the characters in the book, especially the Tarot Reader. I have been looking for books that incorporate tarot readings into the storyline.

The author is brutally honest in her life story telling and sometimes I couldn't believe she would tell some of this stuff. She has a wonderful life change while you read the story and explains it in the end. Anyone that wants to read a story that takes you through a real life experience with an honest and interesting plot, read this. I loved the Mom character. She was so much fun to follow on her journey as much as Kimberlee was to follow.

Our main character starts her story with her first boyfriend and goes to her other paramours. She develops with family and friends as the tarot cards are turned over in a 2 hour reading session. I kept wondering what the resolution was and stayed up reading.

I really hope we get to read more books from Kimberlee Auerbach. If she can create characters from her imagination as well as from real life, I think it will be fun to read more work.

This book is extremely clever and well executed. My daughter read it and told me how wonderful it is and that I should read it. I devoured it in a couple sittings as it is the sort of memoir you find yourself instantly enveloped in, immediately rooting for Kimberlee. There is nothing more attractive than someone who looks at themselves - flaws, warts and all - with a sense of humor. As a mother with a daughter I found the material about Kimberlee and her mom fascinating. Interestingly, I met the author weeks later, after finishing the book and can say she is just as charming, intelligent and unique in person as she seems on paper, a young woman whose talents augur well for a great future. This book is a natural to be snapped up for a series for either HBO or Showtime, it's that entertaining, that good, that rich in material - and if I were a Darren Star-type producer, I would snap up the rights! I love the idea that she goes into a tarot reading ostensibly to gain insight into her future - but learns instead where she has come from, how far, despite the adversity, she has traveled - and how to let go so she may bask in her current life. Too many of us dwell on obsessing about what the future holds and thus do not pay enough attention to the rich joys of daily life. Every day, every hour is a gift and it is clear, by the end of Kimberlee's memoir that she has come to understand and embrace that.

I'm surprised to find a lot in common with the author. With my siblings going in and out of hospitals, even though I had all the love and attention of my mother, I was a very jealous and even spiteful child. With my Dad far away for as long as I remember myself, I have always felt I have to deserve love, and protect myself in love. I see now that I undermined a few relationships with digging too deep into his past and not being able to deal with my own jealousy afterwards. Self-esteem, letting go of the past, a ban on worrying about the future and the act of being alive and present in daily life, along with the realization that working through our issues never stops, are the great lessons of this very engaging book.

I loved this book. I'm not really into tarot cards and didn't think I'd be interested in a book devoted to their guidance, but this story turned out to be so much more than the cover suggests. Auerbach shares about her childhood, her parent's divorce, her struggles to figure out how to negotiate the maze of love and sex and relationships. She's a fabulous writer, and I found myself caught up in her story in the best way possible, turning page after page and not caring that I was missing the latest episode of Project Runway. Two things stood out in particular: First, she describes the pain of romantic jealousy like no one I've ever read. And second, in almost every case, her intuitive reaction to a situation was spot-on, far better than the advice she got from the various sources she consulted. If you like memoirs about struggles with love and life, this is a great read.

I literally could not put down The Devil, the Lovers, and Me: My Life in Tarot. It was a fantastic and FAST read, fully consumed within two days of downloading it (including a stint with motion sickness from reading on the bus because I refused to stop). Auerbach was adorable and hilarious with a refreshing sense of honesty about herself and those around her. Her stories were engaging, and kept you wanting more, turning page after page for a new card, a new parallel, a new epiphany, and in hopes she would find what she was looking for. I cried several times, laughed out loud even more often, and found myself relating to her quirks and craving her intelligence and insight. It took me a while to finally purchase it because of my lack of knowledge in tarot, but the tarot cards were used as a tool to tell her past stories and relate to her current questions in life. My only regret is that it took me so long to finally purchase the book. A must read.
