In the new book, Strieber returns to his youth to recount a summer he spent in a " secret school" in the woods near his childhood home. It was there that he learned the nine lessons that forever changed his life and prepared him for the chilling events narrated in his previous three books. His recollection was triggered by his first encounter in 1985, but for years still remained half-hidden in shadow. Strieber fans everywhere will not want to miss his haunting odyssey into the past and the startling new insights these memories provide about the meanings of his alien encounters and the future destiny of mankind.

Whitley Strieber's "The Secret School" is his latest contribution to nonfiction which began with alien encounters but has become increasingly metaphysical. He stretches the limits of what we perceive as reality through nine "lessons" learned at "secret school" attended in his ninth summer. Fascinating ideas are presented in an entertaining and concrete manner which will leave the reader puzzling over the place of humanity in the universe. He is also author of The Wolfen, The Hunger, and The Coming Global Superstorm, all of which were made into feature films, most recently Superstorm as The Day After Tomorrow.

Whitley Strieber (1945–) is an author best known for his book Communion (1987) in which he alleged experiences with otherworldly entities. Strieber was a successful New York Times-bestselling author at the time Communion was published, leading to accusations that Strieber was engaged in a literary hoax. Strieber later returned to the nuclear holocaust motif briefly in his 1997 book The Secret School: Preparation for Contact, describing a nuclear explosion of unknown origin destroying Washington . Nature's End.

In a new Insight article, Whitley Strieber contributes scanning electron microscope photographs of layered bismuth-magnesium material obtained from an unknown source by Art Bell in the 1990s and given to Linda Moulton Howe and Whitley Strieber. I can't even begin to tell you about this book. I love it. I had this book years ago, as I had an experience I needed help dealing with. This book was perfect and helped me understand it. I loaned the book out and never got it back. I was so upset, I had to buy another. This was that purchase. I have read this book 3 times in 5 years. Its a great book for people who believe in ET experiences.

I get why the media calls Whitley a fantasist. But I am inclined to go with the premise and gain the insight that comes with the main message: Use TIME as a tool in the development of your intellectual prowess. A Shame that this Author has been dealt such heavy losses, but a credit to his resilience.

Vital Beast
I have been very interested recently in the genre of UFO's and aliens. I truly believe Strieber and his experiences but I have a difficult time with his writing style. It feels to me that he trying to write objectively about deeply personal experiences and expecting to be questioned. I would rather just hear the story in his words and what he makes of his experiences. I cannot comprehend what it's like to put this out to the public and become vulnerable to all those fearful and ignorant people but those of us that choose to read and already believe in high strangeness don't need to be convinced. Just tell your story, the readers will come

Windforge
The author describes experiences he had with unconventional tutors, using unconventional methods, while he was still very young. His memories, that were only unlocked much later, suggest that some human children are being prepared secretly to face important events that will have a big impact in our lives. Maybe you are one of them. Another very well written book by Whitley Strieber.

Llallayue
First time I have read a ligitimate explaination for those of us who met with the aliens on a nightly basis growing up. The author provides insight into possible motives for imparting information to humanity. His uncanny insight reassures those who have endured this teaching that all was not just a terror filled childhood of clouded half memories but a real experience of value.

i like Whitleys writing. This is a prequel to his experiences as an adult. pretty awesome.

Silvermaster
An interesting read, as are all of Whitley Strieber's books, but sometimes he tends to ramble and I find my attention wandering.

Love it - Whitley Strieber at his best - this is written just like the classic Communion.
