I don't know how this book works as material for a class, for me I'm reading it out of personal interest. I find it very promising for my own purposes. The essays vary in terms of accessibility but overall they've all been wonderful. Lacking any formal education in philosophy I still find the material comprehensible and essential for helping me understand formal argumentation. I recommend this for just about anyone who's willing to read a review on it. If you're on the fence then get off the fence and just buy it.

I have this book, it is clearly written and the topics are relevant to political philosophy. Very effective for readers looking for contemporary trends in political philosophy, this is not a history of political philosophy. The text is clearly written at the college level, I would contend that all American teachers of Civics and Government should use this this book as a reference to the philosophical trends relevant to the subject.
