Tara Frey's "Blogging for Bliss" is filled with beautiful photography, tons of interviews with crafters and artists who maintain their own blogs, and even features a few pages of useful codes that can be used to customize your blog, but I felt the book focused more on the visual aesthetics of your blog than providing practical advice. This is a perfect beginning guide to finding your niche in the overwhelming world of blogging, and the interviews featured are helpful for seeing what worked for some bloggers, and what failed horribly for others.

Blogging for Bliss book. Blogging For Bliss-Crafting Your Own Online Every so often I wind up in conversations about starting a blog, and trying to explain just what I know gets confusing and overwhelming for some people. Today’s crafting community is online, connected, and blissfully. There are a lot of books about blogging that focus on all sorts of topics, but very few books for the person who wants to start a craft or art blog. A couple of years ago, Tara Frey wrote a great book about the process that should be recommended to everyone who starts a crafts or crafty life style blog.

I found this book too lightweight to be of any real use. The scant amount of technical information was too basic to be of much use to me and blogging about your creative endeavours was barely mentioned - it seemed to be more about blogging about daily life than creative process or as a means of getting yourself noticed as an artist. I'm really not interested in sharing details of my family life on the Internet, or reading about other people's unless I happen to know them personally. I was under the impression I was buying a book about blogging for creatives: my bad perhaps.

I learned nothing and the graphics were too fussy and 'girlie' for my liking. There was far too much real estate given to 'meet the blogger', none of which was particularly instructive. Add to this the fact that the author appears to have completely disappeared from the blogosphere - so I can't even check her out online to see whether I enjoy her blogging style - and I put this book down feeling thoroughly dissatisfied.

Great reference if you're new to blogging. This book will become dated after a while, because it lists blogs that are here NOW. Not sure they will be in 10 to 20 years. And since technology changes all the time, the info about photography and anything technical will be outdated as well. There are plenty of blogs featured in this book, which are interesting to read about, and it does tell you how to put together a blog. If you can borrow someone's copy of this book, you might be better off than buying it, unless you really want it, only because, as said before, it will be outdate information in probably about 5 years.

It's a bit odd/unsettling that the author, who details her own personal blogging journey throughout the book, has vanished off the face of the earth. The websites she operates/provide links to in the book no longer work. Since the book is four years old at this point, I recommend finding a more current book.

I was disappointed that this book was a showcase of what blogs could be, but didn't contain concrete information about developing your own blog.

Wal
I didn't love this book, but for a first time blogger it can give some good info. It had a little to much of sharing other blogs and not enough hard info on effective blogging. If you like learning about other blogs you might like this, but if you want to really learn how to blog effectively, try a different book.

However, this book does not go into enough detail on how to successfully maintain your blog in the long run, and may not be helpful for those trying to use their blog to drive their business.

As someone considering starting a blog to help grow my business, I found this to have great information. Lots of good examples and helpful tips. She also included several blogger interviews from real bloggers. Overall this book has answered lots of my questions and I am feeling much more confident in starting that blog!

August
I was so glad I ordered it. I had never blogged before, but knew it should be good for my business. This was just what I needed to get me going and I finally started my own blog. I probably would not have done it without the book. At my age, sometimes it is hard to try new things.

This is one of those books that came up for me as a suggestion and it had good reviews and looked like it might have potential.

IT IS WONDERFUL!!!

A womanly, girly, crafty inspiration on every page. Great profiles of other women and their really cool blogs. You will want to be friends with them all!

It is practical and gave some instruction on making your own blog pretty cool.

If you like Victoria magazine, antique stores, shabby chic this is your book. Even if you don't have a blog it will connect you a whole world of crafty women you will want to visit.

Order this book, have some tea and cookies and your computer handy...
