Judge and Jury by James Patterson and Andrew Gross is a lukewarm mystery thriller. I actually listed to "Judge & Jury" in unabridged audiobook form, wonderfully read by actor Joe Mantegna and peppered throughout with sound effects and music cues.

Judge and Jury by James Patterson and Andrew Gross is a lukewarm mystery thriller. I often find those latter elements corny when they appear in audiobooks, but they worked here, making the whole thing remind me of an entertaining, involving movie.

Narrated by: MacLeod Andrews, Kevin T. Length: 9 hrs and 46 mins. What does Joe Mantegna bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book? Joe Mantegna sounds like a mob boss, so he was a good pic for the book.

James Patterson and Andrew Gross have written a suspenseful, gripping legal thriller with one of the most diabolical villains of modern crime fiction. The tenderness of the romance between Nick and Ande provides a welcome buffer that offsets the chilling actions of Cavello and his paid assassin. Read by actor Joe Mantegna, the book takes on the feeling of a news report where the characters are brought to life by a thorough and sensitive, investigative reporter. His voice elicits feelings of reliability, openness and trust

James Patterson book written by Andrew Gross.

James Patterson book written by Andrew Gross. Another decent read straight out of the James Patterson book factory, usual formula, fast paced, short chapters and in this case it works. Most of the books were abridged, but this one was a complete novel, well narrated by Joe Mantegna, and although not earth shattering, it kept me entertained through several hours of driving. The two main A bit formulaic. A friend kindly gave me her collection of audio CDs and so I promptly trundled my car down to the auto repair shop to get my CD player fixed.

Judge and Jury gets off to a slightly slow start but delivers plenty of twists and turns. To read this book, upload an EPUB or FB2 file to Bookmate. FBI agent Nick Pellisante has finally done the impossible: captured Mob boss Dominic Cavello.

Nick Pellisante, FBI veteran on stakeout for a mafia boss wins the first round with an arrest but with fatal consequences. Then at the trial things really go down hill fast. Another collaboration by James Patterson and Andrew Gross that delivers a fast paced thriller that keeps you interested through the final page. A tour de force taking the reader on a roller coaster ride through several countries which adds to an unexpected climax. Patterson fans will definitely enjoy the ride.

How can I say this is the best book of James Patterson's, when I've read so many...almost all of them? I read his latest one two days ago and can't say it's any better than this one, and this one is 10 years old! This confirms that James Patterson is on the top of best suspense writers into the world.

This book takes you all over the world, beginning in New York with Nick, SAC in charge of the mob division. He may give up the title after two botched trials, but he's never given up his quest. To be honest, I certainly can't blame him in the least.

Once again, I highly recommend this book. Your heart will be racing, sitting on the edge of your seat, and cheering Nick on .

“Judge and Jury” by James Patterson and Andrew Gross is a lukewarm mystery thriller. A mob boss, Dominic Cavello, the baddest of the bad guys, goes on trial for multiple murders in and around the City of New York. Nick Pellisante, FBI Special Agent for organized crime, is responsible for Cavello going to trial. One of the jury members, Andie DeGrasse, single mother and part-time actress, makes every effort to get off the jury but in the end decides that it is her duty, a decision she soon comes to regret. Disaster strikes during the early part of the trial. Nick and Andie are thrown together through circumstances and a common desire to see justice done and also to extract revenge. What follows is a quick series of exhilarating events that take the reader to far-flung destinations in pursuit of a deadly mission. The story has many exciting moments, some a bit unrealistic, particularly toward the end; however, it’s a fun, and quick, read with lots of short chapters. I rate the story a 3 on a 5 scale.

Action packed from the beginning to the end. James Patterson really did what he does best. I was on the edge throughout. It had everything love, romance, and best of all action, action and more action. I can't say enough about how great this book is, a must read for James Patterson fans

Although many of the "collaboration" novels James Patterson turns out are good reads, this particular collaboration did not work for me. While this is an easy read and a decent plot, it lacks that certain "something" that make the Alex Cross, Michael Bennett and Private series so riveting and hard to put down. This one sort of skims the surfaces of plot, character and emotion, without getting the reader deeply involve. It reads smoothly, if somewhat predictably, and is what I refer to as a "decent beach read". However, for pure Patterson, stick with Alex Cross, and for the best of the collaboration series, I suggest the Private novels.

The Apotheoses of Lacspor
James Patterson's reliable beach reads don't subvert or twist the conventions of the thriller genre, but rather revel in them. So, in a crime thriller like this one, you get lots of action, some courtroom theatrics, a little international espionage, and, of course, some hot romance. In the sense that you've seen these elements before, I guess it's all "by the numbers", but the author always delivers these things in a skillful manner, making you want to shoot through the story even as you're well aware of the formula. I was quite entertained by "Judge & Jury", a joint venture between Mr. Patterson and occasional collaborator Andrew Gross.

Despite the safe, marketable formula, "Judge & Jury" does get a few extra points for one or two instances of gutsiness. For one thing, something truly tragic and shocking happens to heroine Andi DeGrasse about a third of the way into the book, something beyond what most editors would probably consider an acceptable level of bad business to inflict on a bouncy female character appearing in a summer beach read. Second, the scenes of sexuality, though not constant, aren't afraid to venture well into adult R-rated territory. These two examples demonstrated to me that the book, despite its clear intent to be a huge seller, wasn't afraid to be a little tough and a little adult. I liked that.

I often find those latter elements corny when they appear in audiobooks, but they worked here, making the whole thing remind me of an entertaining, involving movie.

But whether you listen to this book or read it the old-fashioned way, I think you'll enjoy this capable, gutsy tale that runs the gamut from revenge to romance, with all kinds of interesting business in between.

His writing is like this could have happened in real life. I have read about New York crime familys so this sounds plausible. Every book of his that I have read I have enjoyed very much. I look forward to reading another one of his books. There's so many to choose from for he is a prolific writer. I hope that you will enjoy his writing as much as I have.

I really enjoyed this book. It was exciting from the beginning to the very end. An FBI agent and a juror team up to try to take down a mafia don. The plot is well thought out and the characters are easy to like. I'd like to see more books about "Nicky Smiles".
