Look, if you have read anything by Doug Johnstone you already know that he's a brilliant story teller. He is extremely dramatic and very graphic in his detailed story line. BUT... Let's get a handle on the injuries RIGHT? I mean jeez let's take a quick peek at poor Billy's boo boo's.

His hand is like hamburger from climbing a wall made of broken glass and barbed wire, he has an aneurysm from hitting his head in a hit and run which leads to an operation which leaves him with a hole in the back of his head covered by a flap of skin and a band aid, gets his leg half blown off with a shot gun, smoke inhalation and doing more stolen drugs than Al did in Scar Face.

Now I know this is fiction I'm reading here, but wow. Cool your jets a little. All that would have made even Bat Man take a few days off.

A good page-turner - both in terms of the action and suspense, and the moral dilemma that the protagonist had to go through. It really is true that emotional and mental stress will eventually translate to something physical. I believe it is the way of God (or of nature for the unbelievers) of bearing down on a person until he is so consumed by guilt that there is nothing else that can offer relief aside from owning up. Of course, there are the thugs out there that no amount of bearing down seem to get on them, but really, who knows? After everything, all of us will meet our end; it just depends on us what condition we'd like to be when that happens.

This book started out great and drew me in with the plot premise. Initially, the occasional bad word was tolerable for the story line. However, about 1/3 into the book, the language abruptly turned south. I usually listen to my Kindle books while in the car. After feeling verbally assaulted with 13 F-bombs within 3 pages, I couldn't take it anymore. This book will be deleted from my Kindle without finishing it. Reliance on profanity, especially the same word over and over, is not good writing in my opinion.

I did not like this novel by Johnstone as much. While the plot kept me reading, the characters were not ones I could relate to. Except for the main character, Billy, I thought the others were one dimensional. I also thought that drug use did not add anything to the characters or plot except to show the trio was wasted at the time of the accident.

This is one of those books where you have to ask yourself, what would you do? What would you do if you ran over someone and he died? Would it matter if the person was a terrible human being? Would you turn yourself in, or turn in your friends? This is one where you have to really delve into your own morals and ethics and find the true essence of your character. Very well done; the characters behave in a way that is true to who they are. I couldn't anticipate the end of the tale and it was definitely worth the read.

Forcestalker
It took a long time to get into the story, it also has a lot of fowl language as far as I was concerned. Although the "F" word seems to take precedence. Too many times in my opinion. I won't read any of his other books due to this.

This was a pretty good book to me. It just goes to show what you can living through when you have done something bad. Can you let haunt you forever? Or you they and clear you mind. We all know it will never go away. So we must make a chose of what we can live with. I enjoyed the book hope you will also.

Couldn’t put it down ! Looking forward to the next one ! Intense but want to know how Billy fared !
